"Grapey" -- LOLOL. Good one, CLV.
Patrick Hughes, the Cannery GM, called me today. He's very nice. Said he spent the last 12 years at the Rampart, which is no longer owned by Cannery.
Anyway, we discussed my concerns. He basically said the video poker paytables were lowered only on the quarter games. And he did sound interested in what I said. He said they are bringing back multiplier days, and made it sound like this is why they lowered the paytables. This is ridiculous, in my opinion. They used to have lots of multiplier days, and good paytables, besides. Those days appear to be gone.
I told him the video poker players I know are serious players and if they had to choose, would prefer the better paytables to an occasional multiplier day when they may or may not be able to be there. I also told him most people in the Cannery's demographic cannot afford to play dollar-and-up denominations.
I also told him the previous management's changes had made it clear that video poker players are not valued. Especially removing some machines AND moving others down near the Club. He actually said he doesn't like that part of the casino, either!
Before calling me, he said, he looked at my play and determined that I'm a valuable player. (I had not given him my players card number, so he took the time to look me up.) He also discussed all this with his director of slots. It sounds like he's taking it seriously. We'll see.
One suggestion I made to him is to restore the DDB and BP paytables on quarters, and then offer a lower multiplier on multiplier days for VP than for slots. For example, 2X points on VP, 5X points on slots. This is what Stations does, BTW.
He said he's going to give all this some thought. He also said he would like to meet me next time I'm there, and I'm supposed to ask my host to call him.
