New Cannery GM Decimates VP

Ever since it was announced that the Millennium Management Group (owners of the Cannery) lost the contract to run the Rampart, the mailers and the promotions went downhill.

Strange reaction...alienate players when they really need to ensure that they keep their casino full and their players happy, given the lost revenue from the Rampart contract.
Hey, M's doing the same thing. But at least the Cannery boss is Listening. Thats a good first step.

I met Patrick Hughes today. He's a very nice man who was wearing a shirt and slacks -- not a stuffy suit like I expected, lol. He said they're still thinking about what to do. He mentioned they were considering having 3X points day on Wednesdays. He also said they want to get more video poker players. I told him 3X points on Wednesdays is not going to accomplish that. Again, I said he should reinstate the decent video poker paytables (they weren't 100% games to begin with) for quarter players and then consider having 2 tiers of multipliers, with a smaller multiplier for VP players. He knew that was what Stations are doing.

I also told him he should put back the VP machines they moved from the west end of the casino to the east end, and reinstate the missing games from the Multi-Game machines, especially my favorite, Super Double Double Bonus. He said they're going to do "something" about the fact that nobody likes to play at the east end of the casino.

That's about it. He said he'd let me know when they decide what to do. I have my April calendar, and there are no 3X points days on there, except for 55+ on Mondays, so it hasn't happened yet. He gave me his business card, shook my hand, and wished me luck playing today. I lost anyway, lol.
Well, having a One on One is certainly more good than what most of us get Sue.
Good job! Hope it helps sink some sense into them.

He's going to have to put in paytables like Sam's Town and Stations have for me to set foot in the place.
Has Cannery also dimished their crapola, ala M? That would be sad.......
Well thanks, Sue for trying with the GM! Hopefully he will make changes for the positive as opposed to making it worse for the player!

Correction -- 3X points on Wednesdays has begun. It was announced in today's newspaper ad. It's for video poker and video reels. I hope this doesn't mean they aren't considering reinstating the lowered VP paytables. I think I'll email Mr. Hughes and ask him.
Thanks for the info Sue. We always stay at the Cannery Wed-Sun for the first weekend of the NCAA BB Tournament. We did not do it this year due to a scheduling problem but intended to get back on the Cannery schedule next year. I am disappointed to hear about the 25 cent VP because that is all we play (besides betting on the games). I will follow your input on this thread. A lot can happen in the next 11 months. Since our host comps our room for five days we will have to decide whether the lesser VP schedules cancels the free room. I am guessing we could live with 7/5 BP progressive royal at the bar at which we watch all the BB games. Obviously we would prefer 8/5 BP. It sounds like the GM is listening but will the players' recommendations be outweighed by the Suits and the Bean Counters? I just wonder why the Suits cannot figure out that the games they removed are not 100% return games so they still have the advantage. Common sense dictates that it is better to have a lot of players playing games returning 1 or 2 % to the house rather than having a few players playing games returning 3 or 4 % to the house.
Sue, do you think hes a player? I mean does he ever play & actually Understand where
youre coming from.........on behalf of vp players?
So many casino suits don't seem to have a clue about what players actually mean.
Just curious what you thought.
