Jphelan is correct about the book "Winning At Casino Craps" for what a decent couple of lattes or a line bet with odds cost. you can get a book that has all the basics of the game. I personally have played the strategy in the book and it is solid. Other books by people like John Patrick are for the birds. Also check out wizardofodds.com for more math on craps. Stay away from field, yo, and hard ways bets and you will be money ahead.
Also shop for tables with low minimums and higher odds. For example spending $20 playing a $10 craps table with $10 odds and lets say your point is 4. You would win $10 on your pass line bet and $20 on your odds bet for a total of $30. On the other hand if you took that $20 and played a $5 table and took $15 in odds you would win $5 on the pass line and $30 on your odds bet for a total of $35. Just google "current craps conditions las vegas" and you can find several sites with table min's and how many X's odds.
