No more traveler checks, what to do?

OK, I'm old fashion. AAA Michigan will not be giving out traveler checks anymore starting in July. I don't want to use a card that charges money from a money machine. What do people do instead of carrying alot of money?
I have an account at Bank of America which has lots of ATM's in Las Vegas.
Many travel agents sell travelers cheques,
I never saw a bank that doesn't sell travelers cheques,
All AMEX outlets sell travelers cheques,
All casinos will give you money at the cage if you apply and get approval before you go (My friend has credit at all Mirage Group Casinos)
I carry cash for gambling and credit card for everything else.

Hope this helps

I'm like you; I also prefer to have Traveler's Checks when I go to Vegas. Unfortunately, my local bank stopped offering them a couple of years ago so I ended up taking cash ($100 bills) in my carry-on bag the last two times that we went. I don't want my Debit card or my account information to be stolen, so I leave the ATM card at home. I'm not too keen on carrying cash, but I haven't had any problems (so far). Once in Vegas, I only take the amount with me that I think I'll need each day and I leave the rest in the room safe.

if you go to the american express web site you can find a bank in your area that carries them. That is what i did
Thanks for replies. As I said, I am cheap. My credit union dosen't have traveler checks. I believe ATM machines charge you money to get your money, I don't like that. I don't mind carrying cash when I make solo trip. But when wife comes along, I bring more cash. I know I could set up a account at a bank in Las Vegas, which I am thinking of doing.
I too used to use AAA's free Amex Travelers Cheques (how pretentious is that spelling?). I've transitioned to having check cashing privileges at a few places in Vegas. It's free and easy, and saves me a trip to AAA.

Just call up a few casinos you're likely to visit and ask to set up check cashing. You'll fill out a few forms, send them in, they'll contact your bank to make sure you're legit, and you're set. Works for me.
Ditto Chilcoot-- That is what I did-- EASY-PEASY

This sounds like a great idea. I usually bring about 5k in cash which I really don't like doing. Do you apply for a certain amount? Do they base your limit on how much you have in your account? Please give some details. Thanks.
