Online Poker Start-Up Suggestions?

First, I'm not sure if this best goes under Kill Phil, Internet Gambling or this message board--so my apologies in advance if I'm posting in the wrong place. Most of the previous threads I pulled up on each of those boards where more than a year old, and I'm not sure if much has changed.

I'd like to start playing online poker, and would be grateful for any suggestions on where and how to begin in light of all the options out there. To give an idea of my skill/intent, my hands would initially be for pennies rather than dollars, and primarily for entertainment and learning rather than to generate $. I'm just starting out and anticipate improving my game w/time and experience--taking this step this seems a good way to keep me moving in that direction.

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions!
You've got the right idea as far as jumping in slow and getting experience .. I've been playing online for more than 10 years and I'm still learning ..

I play at FullTiltPoker.com and I think that's the best out there and one of the few who will accept US players ..

HOPEFULLY they change the laws and internet gaming will open up and the donks will come back!
Anyone looking to get started in online poker on Full Tilt Poker should look into getting a rakeback account.

I can point you in the right direction- just drop me a PM.
I joined club WPT years ago and love it. You only pay one membership amount, it includes your membership to LVA. It has lots of tournaments. They pay cash for the top places, but do not cost you extra money. Good luck with your online playing. Mary

Since my avatar still has club UBT let me explain that the site changed names and is now CLUB WPT.
I've been playing on free bankrolls from UB and Full Tilt for about three years now. I think FT is still running a promotion through the American Casino Guide where you can get $50 or $100 in free bankroll. After you play a certain number of raked hands, you can cash it out if you like.

I think it's probably good practice for the live games, though my live game results are a LOT better than my online results.
