The Palms $5 blackjack table: rules / conditions / outcome

You lie.

You weren't talking about a CSM game. You were talking about games you were counting.

A fuller quote:

"For me, ever since counting became pretty much pointless, the game has been social and a time-killer. I enjoy telling whoever will listen that there's a single best way to play every hand vs. every dealer upcard."

-Kevin Lewis

Stop smugly peddling unsolicited bad advice to people. Zero people enjoy that.

In order to accurately say that "zero people" feel something, you would have had to ask every single person on earth. Therefore, YOU lie.

I never said that I provided advice to fellow players based on the count. And despite what you imply, I NEVER advised anyone to make a given Basic Strategy play when the count suggested a deviation. It's simple why --that could have blown my cover.

Stop being a 💩

Let me count the ways!

The first and most obvious is the stupidity of those who voted for the Orange Pig and the consequent increases in the cost of living.

I know, EEK EEK, POLITICAL COMMENT.

The stupidity of other drivers increases my risk of injury or death, and ups my insurance premiums.

The stupidity of those who don't believe in environmental stewardship makes my environment less healthy and increases my chances of illness or death.

The stupidity of those who deny the reality of climate change increases my energy costs and my chances of dying or being injured in a natural disaster.

The above two stupidities increase the cost of the consumer goods I purchase.

The stupidity of those who oppose universal health care degrades the health of the people around me, making my environment less healthy and increasing my chances of sickness or death.

The stupidity of people who smoke degrades my health, with consequences as above.

The stupidity of those who oppose clean, sustainable energy increases my energy costs and degrades my environment (thank God I live in the Pacific Northwest).

People all around me who make foolish/bad decisions may often affect me negatively in ways I can't even anticipate.

People who oppose FEELTHY IMMERGENTS degrade our labor force and deprive us of cultural variety. You can see how those two things cost all of us by looking at Japan's economic stagnation (they are one of the most xenophobic countries in the world).

I could provide many more examples.

I was talking about casino gambling. Sorry your life sucks. Cheers.

You didn't say that. And you could have omitted the childish, gratuitous, stupid insult. But maybe your cravings made you do it.

To answer your question in the specific field of casino gambling, the willingness (aka stupidity) of people to play garbage games with high -EV decreases the number of good games offered. That affects my bottom line. If everyone had a brain and walked away laughing from a 6:5 shitjack table, there would be no 6:5 shitjack.

But let's go back to your insult. My life does indeed suck compared to how it would be if everyone was halfway intelligent and showed some human decency. Those qualities, however, are downright rare, and both in the same person is almost a unicorn.

We could be living in a paradise if not for human stupidity, greed, and evil

I am glad this forum exists for Kevin Lewis to vent his endless, stupid bile.

Really lessens the load off all the car horns he honks, city council members he writes, customer service reps he berates, clouds he shakes his fists at, and dogs he kicks.

(Cue pointless 900 word reply)

And keeping you occupied is a boon for the people who live near you. Their kids are safer.

Good point, looking at the positive side, any casino that deals 6:5 exclusively is telling me not to play there. And I don't. No need to check video poker pay tables or any of the restaurants, just move on.

That's usually a valid assumption, that if the table games are shit, so is everything else...but back in my AP days, I learned to scope out everything once I was in a casino. I remember multiple instances of very good VP in what was otherwise a gambling wasteland.

One example I remember was at the Paris casino. I was there for a bridge tournament and had no intentions of staying or playing there. But I did notice a bank of $1 9/6 JOB. I also saw that it was Senior Day and I would be able to get a 1% points return. Additionally, I would get a $20 free play sign up bonus AND a half off buffet coupon. So I got a players' card (this was back before Caesars ate the joint) and pounded away. I cashed out up $150. Very soon afterward, I got a mailer for three free weeknights and $50 free play.

Now, absolutely everything else in that casino was unplayable garbage. But you never know when some slot tech, or some suit, might forget the casino's policy of "everything should suck" and an opportunity may arise.

(Of course, nothing that good will ever be found anywhere on the Strip, ever again, even if Vegas lasts another thousand years.)

This is one of those classic idealistic vs pragmatic quandries.  Four Queens has only 6:5 BJ, but lots of 9/6 JoB, 0.3125% CB and decent promos.

Since the casinos, whether we're tourist ploppies, skilled APs, or value-consciius couponers, are our bitter enemies and seek to rape us of every last dollar (and brainwash us into coming back for more!), we owe it to ourselves to seek out their every weakness and exploit it to the maximum.

I've always found exploitable weaknesses, regardless of how bleak the opportunities might appear, with one large exception. For the last 10+ years, CET has been ruthlessly efficient in implementing its NOBODY WINS policy. They spend much more time and money than any other casino (group) hunting down and snuffing out any decent play opportunities. Their player tracking is state of the art and considers factors, like game choice and even skill level, that other joints ignore.

But otherwise, even the Golden Commode, with its $26 grilled cheese sandwiches and $25 minimum 6:5 shitjack, will always have opportunities if you look hard enough.
