Pawn Stars Don't Know (Black)Jack!

Hey Group,

I recently saw an episode of "Pawn Stars" where nobody commented (not Rick or Chumlee [although Chumlee said that he did not know nor had ever played Blackjack] nor the show where they post information about history of the item or the item itself) on the fact that the table felt (this was from Stardust Casino) said that Blackjack pays 6 To 5.

This could have been a good teaching moment to say that Blackjack paying 6 To 5 is a terrible game which makes it a lot harder for players to win at since the casino advantage is at least about 1.5% to 2% (which is very high for Blackjack).

The seller was selling the table and chairs and Rick and the seller agreed to settle for either $550 (if Rick won) or $650 (if the seller won) by playing a hand of Blackjack.

Rick did play the hand correctly. He started with 6-2, then Hit and got a 9 (for a total of Hard 17) and then stopped. Then the camera showed the Dealer (Seller)'s Up-Card which was a 10 and he then turned over an 8 (for a total of Hard 18).

But I think that it could have been good to tell the viewing audience that 6 To 5 Blackjack is just a bad game!

Agreed - and Blackjack Pay is usually right on the table. If this said BJ pays 6-5 I doubt that it was an original table from Stardust.

I have information from another website that says that this definitely was a table from Stardust when they had a Carnival Games section/Party Pit (which did happen). And it definitely said BJ pays 6 To 5. I was quite displeased to see that.

OK Thanks - Those Party Pits are designed for losers!

I didn't realize the Stardust ever had 6-5
Agree 6:5 is lousy, but I doubt the Pawn Stars/History Channel would chance pi$$ing off casino companies by interjecting gambling advice into the show.
