Russ- I think I had only seen the SF that high there once before -- I can't believe it was that high, and I can't believe I had the good fortune of getting it dealt to me after hours of trying for it (including a small handful of four-to-the-SF hands that didn't connect). I also had the good fortune of meeting a fellow LVAer named Greg who was playing at the bar as well going after the big progressive. I love those machines and I love that bar -- I hope they never get rid of the game as I play there every trip.

i had the stupid fakeout royal at the el cortez when the royal progressive was over $3k. its the worst.

knagl - i fantasized about your stp win over the weekend. ive decided that the reason you got it is that your avatar, for as long as i can remember, is that beautiful "last game paid 10x". i am now going to see if i can find a picture of a megabucks win and make it my avatar.

I love your new icon! Mine has been the STP 10x icon for quite a while, although my first icon was of a "Shockwave" 4-of-a-kind which predated my first Royal:




...and I later switched to this (accidental) $2K Royal from the Gold Coast:



(I say "accidental" because I had just sat down at the bar and started playing, and didn't realize that the previous player had set the multi-denomination machine to $0.50 and thought I was playing quarters!)

After a while of those, though, I created the icon you see today (using screengrabs from the play-at-home web version of the game) and have had that for quite a while.


I like your theory about me hitting the 10X Royal because of the icon. Let's hope it works for you, too, and you can tell us all about your Megabucks win that you'll have in the near future. I insist on a small percentage as a fee for giving you the idea.

Freakish night tonight. Started paying a 5 play quarter STP. A few hands into it I draw a pair of tens to another pair of same. Minutes later pull 2 aces to aces for $200..no kicker.
Then draw 2 aces/kicker to ace pair for $500. Minutes later...the royal.
Very strange but welcome. A quick sequence of making hands by drawing 2 cards.
