Player's Edge Articles In The LVRJ

Hey Group,

I'm now noticing no "Player's Edge" column in Friday's Neon section of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and when I went to the Columnists section, there was nothing in the archives. Does anyone know about what happened or what is going on with this?

Thank you in advance!

Jeffrey Compton left a few weeks ago. The column has been gone since then.
Thanks Sue. I should have known where to go as I had the same question. I have an online subscription to LVRJ and could not find it.

Suppose I should send them a letter so they know that people want it back.
Thanks, Sue! I did know that Jeffrey Compton was leaving but I thought that maybe Bob Dancer with the help of someone else would possibly continue the article.

If not, that's too bad because I really liked it since it had some very useful information especially about good promotions going on.

Hi, Sue. You don't know if the LVRJ is thinking about doing a similar column in the future, do you?
No.
Oh well, at least there still is the promotions piece "Vegas Values" by Scot Krause on the American Casino Guide website. That's certainly better than nothing!

Hey Group,

I now have an update about this. I heard the 3/31/2011 broadcast of the "Gambling With An Edge" radio show and at about the 9 Minute point, Bob Dancer said that he would like to continue the "Player's Edge" column but that the Las Vegas Review-Journal thinks that nobody really wanted to read the "Player's Edge" column and so if people want the column back up, they need to drop a line to (or I guess to otherwise contact) this newspaper and ask them to return the column to the newspaper.

That column was the BEST! That and the possible daily coupons were the only reasons I bought the LVRJ, as opposed to the NYT for news.

Could it be that more people want to know what Holly Madison is up to or heaven forbid, one of the Kardashian's break a fingernail? I find it interesting that the LV media (in some instances) try to portray that Vegas is more that just gaming, and yes that is true. But let's face it, without it, what would be the draw to Las Vegas? Yes this tangential to the column, but on the internet I liked to read the info presented and gaming is a big part of this town.

Anybody know what the circulation numbers are for LVRJ, ie subscriptions and daily purchases?
