Playing in a VP Tournament

We are going to play in a VP Tournament this May at the Gold Coast. I believe the game is double double bonus. Any special things that should be done for tournament play versus regular play.

You always go for the RF (you need one to win) and the kicker quads (when dealt 2 pair with one of them being a 2, 3 or 4...throw away the other pair). Same goes for full house if the 3 of a kind is 2, 3 or 4. Straights are also a waste.
Most VP tourneys call for play in the 600-800 hands per hour rate, so don't get carried away with speed.
I've never had a RF in tourney play, but the kicker quads (especially Aces) have put me in the top 5 four times (out of about 20 VP tourneys). Thanks to perfect play (adusted as above) I have always been in the money...but you need some luck to win!

Have fun and good luck (skill helps, but luck is important)
If I appear out of the running by the 3rd round, I'll hold a single high card only on the draw, and try for 4 oak (or a Royal),

..... unless I'm dealt more than Ace. Then I'll hold the Aces.

Yes, make sure you have lucky glitter, chew toy and the blessings of Frankie and Marc and Mindy on your side. Then wish for dumb luck to favor you.

Agree with above.............also Use the Buttons.

You can tell the Newbies............they often use the touch screen. Don't do it.
Buttons only, and don't look.

I play fast, and SOME tourneys it helps to play fast, and dump hands you don't want.

But some tourneys you are given a Set number of points..........if thats the case, you
can slow down your play.

What drives me crazy, are the Geezers who are Dealt royals, and beat the pants of
you with dumb Luck.

Its a crapshoot. Good Luck.
