Plaza Hotel closed for how long?

Walked over to the Plaza Hotel to look around and realized it was closed. I guess I haven't been keeping up with everything here, when did they close? Are they going to reopen at some point?
I'm not sure when it will reopen, but it is being refurbished with inventory the owners bought at a bargin from the Fountainbleu. Should be open in a few months. It was estimated it would be 18 months from the time it closed in November.
it was pretty quiet over the weekend. I hope it comes back, with full pay JOB, as it was my leader in total RF scored for most of this century. But they downgraded and tunicas roadhouse overtook them. It's hard to tell from the casino what's going on in the towers. I'll check back and post on it in april. mr
Hi,
I was in the Las Vegas Club last weekend and was picking up a comp at the player's club where I recognized the lady from the Plaza player's club. She says that the South Tower will open in April and the rest of the casino and hotel will open in October.

According to a fairly recent snail-mail offer that I received from Las Vegas Club (it has returned to using that name and it has a new logo), Plaza Hotel is supposed to be back up and running by mid-year.

When I was in town last week we drove by and on the marquees at the Vegas Club and Plaza it said new rooms coming May 2011. Thanks Fountainbleau!

So I guess they are upgrading Vegas Club as well.
We just got back, stayed at the LV Club. They're definitely going through with the renovation and everyone is optimistic (you can generally tell when the rank-and-file is just waiting for the company to fold). Hosts figured the hotel would re-open in September. Some casino renovations (yeah, I hope they don't lose the 9/6 JoB, that would be a deal-breaker for us), seven new restaurants (Firefly will be moved, they have other plans for the dome, maybe a steakhouse, don't remember).

I really like the Plaza, it must have been quite the place back in the '70s. In recent years, you feel like an archaeologist looking for the evidence of its former glory. Personally, I hope they keep the '70s opulence (mirrors, glass, etc.), but I'm guessing that it will be "updated."
Love the Plaza too.. went there on my first trip to LV in 2003, as my (now late) father-in-law went there every year for a "Bottle show"! He collected these, along with other antiques... I loved going to the show because there was also a plethora of casino memorabilia there. But I digress....

I loved the location of the Plaza, along with the dazzling marquis with the thousands of bulbs.. It was like the Vegas I remembered from the movies, especially Bond's "Diamonds are Forever"!

I hope that this marquis is restored, and all of the burned-out bulbs are replaced! With the closure of the Sahara, downtown is definitely becoming the go-to place for tourists that love Vegas history.
