Progressive Double Royal

Last week a friend hit an $1800 progressive royal. The whole bank of machines was full and being pounded when he hit it. Someone else posed the following question. What if two people hit that progressive royal at the same time? Would they both get the progressive amount, would it be split (screwing one winner), or is it impossible in that the slot crew would be able to check the machines to see which person hit it a microsecond earlier than the other?

Unless I'm mistaken, only one machine would lock up with the $1,800 win. The other machine would also lock up, but at the new reset level. The system should clearly be able to determine which machine hit a fraction of a second sooner, and would lock the first one up accordingly.
I agree with jokermgb. No way the casino would find it in their hearts to double pay.

And with my luck I would be the person getting the "reset" jackpot.

Who am I kidding??? I would be the person sitting between the 2 jackpot winners... playing out my remaining credits before walking off to another bank of machines.

That would be me too Blade.

jokermgb - you are correct. Progressive VP machines and slots are linked to a common controller, which is capable of determining which jackpot hit first, second, and so on. Each jackpot will award whatever the progressive amount is at the exact time it hits. In my previous career in casino surveillance, I saw it happen all the time. To players it may seem like two jackpots hit simultaneously. However the controller breaks time down to fractions of a second.

This is true for all linked progressives. From a bank of multi-level progressive penny video slots to video poker to Megabucks. Even table games with linked progressives (but it takes a dealer or supervisor to push a button on the keypad to reset).

Bottom line - you will get what you actually won.

Double................Post
triple post, my gawd this thing is SLOWWWWWWWWWW
Agree with above.

I've hit a couple Prog's in my day..................ok, more than a few.........lol
But, also had that happen.

NEVER by a microsecond hitting the same as another person, but thhis came pretty close:

I remember when a man next to me hit a RF & GOT the Prog. dammit. Oh well, his light was now flashing for the handpay.

My machine was playing pretty good, so I continued to play........A minute later..............
MY machine hit a Royal...........WHAT?

So now, Both machines are flashing royals.

But hes the only one who Got the Prog. I got the reset amount, with a few cents more. lol
