Question on Reporting W-2Gs to IRS

Checking to see if anyone else has run into this problem.  I've been using Turbotax since it came into being and have filed electronically.  But for the last two years, it has been rejected by the IRS for incorrect EINs for various casinos (like Red Rock, Horseshoe Tahoe, Harrahs Atlantic City, etc), even tho its been the same numbers for all the previous filings.  I had to mail in the forms and refunds were received in a very short time, so no problem with the numbers.  We're talking about 35 to 45 W-2Gs each year.

So are they just picking on me?

I've seen this before in my own personal filings, albeit on a smaller scale than yours. Since the casino megatoilet industry is basically one giant Monopoly game played by crazy people, who/what owns a given casino can change at the drop of a hat, and so can the casino's disburser number. Their software SHOULD be updated when that happens, of course, but it often isn't.

ALSO...the IRS should have the older ID number on file and should be able to associate W2-Gs with that older number with the newer ID.account for that casino. But the IRS's software, like the entire agency itself, is old and creaky.

Commercial: this is one of the gazillion things that would have been fixed if a certain political party hadn't devoted so much effort over the last several years to starving the IRS of funding.

Oh, and there's another possibility. I worked for Turbotax in 2021. They try to load all the various and sundry ID numbers, rules, tables, etc. into their software as soon as possible---the first few days of January, ideally. With the pandemic, almost none of that info got updated. The IRS shoved the date they would start accepting returns later by several weeks, and even then, there were still massive glitches. It's quite possible that there are still problems.
