Riviera new rules

At least from what I've understood from the past, Freeplay is actually more like Matchplay and so it is not the guaranteed sure thing that cashback is.

Since Freeplay has to be played through on a machine at least one time before the player can extract whatever cash is left out of it, what the player can end up with can be worth less than half of the face value of the Freeplay in sure thing money return.

Rec, so much of this is wrong or at a minimum very misleading.

Perhaps what you are trying to say is that FP has more variance than CB? And in most cases that makes CB preferable to FP? No argument there.

However, when FP is greater than CB you need to do a little more math to figure out which is a better option. Take the FP amount (or rate if you prefer) and multiply it by the return of the game you are playing it through and you now magically have a number you can accurately compare to the CB amount. Could you end up with less, of course. Could you end up with more, absolutely.

Remember, you're playing your FP through the same video poker machine that you just earned all of those points on. The expected return didn't suddenly drop from 99% to 67% because you switched to using FP!

Simply put, the new rules offer a better return for the players at Base or Gold level and slightly worse for those at Platinum (due to the FP switch). The math here isn't debatable.

Now are the new rules better or worse for players? That's much more of a qualitative discussion that's going to vary by how much an individual played previously and plans to play now. Certainly the changes are not positive if you were previously a low level Platinum player.

Perhaps more important is what if any changes will there be to mailers, comps, promotions, etc. Even at 0.5% return the Riv doesn't have a positive play without these extras.
Grasp is right on this one. 0.25% of freeplay is MUCH better than 0.167% of cashback.

Wow, maybe I've misunderstood this stuff for a while! But there is definitely more variance when having to deal with FP versus Cashback (although I'm well aware that while playing on the Freeplay money, a player could end up getting some high paying hand[s] such as 4-Of-A-Kind a Straight Flush or even a Royal Flush but then again most or all of the Freeplay money could be lost as well rather than having the for sure cashback).

But also, I'm seeing that it will now take 4 additional times the coin-in played through to get to the higher levels than was previously needed to get to the Gold and Platinum levels (so I wonder if that is really worth it for players to get to those higher levels since it takes so much more additional coin-in to get there). And so the base level could now be better, but since it takes a lot more play to get to the higher levels, I'd say that beyond the basic level that at least for most players it may not be worth going beyond there.
