Shuffle up for little play

Sionow (Jon's) trip reports on his "Hit them all Nevada" trip often refer to the only BJ game he could play would require the dealer to shuffle up for 1 hand so he does not play under those conditions. I too am reluctant to make a dealer shuffle up if I only intend to play a few hands. I wonder though.........

If I were dealing BJ I think I would rather shuffle up than stand there doing nothing.

I have often made a dealer shuffle up and left 15 minutes later with the table full.

Any dealers or former dealers have an opinion on the subject?
Most times when I walk by an inactive dealer I get the impression, as they eyeball me, that they are looking at me with that "here comes another sucker" look. If I felt like playing at an inactive table I would play, whether for one or more hands. I do believe that dealing is their chosen profession and I doubt that they really care if one plays just one hand. And if they do care, it would make no difference to me. Their job is to beat me out of my money while expecting me to tip them for doing their job. As usual, just my opinion.
