Skill Pays Off

Just started my 3 winning trips cycle with a trip to Tunica for Memorial Day (3 loosing trips were all Vegas, Jan, Feb & Mar). Stayed at Sams and Horseshoe (dbl booking, of course). While playing my usual game of 9/6 $DDB at Horseshoe on Saturday was dealt flush with 4 to a Royal, being sharp as a tack, thru away the small card and damn if the needed Ace didn't pop up. 30 minutes later I was getting nothing and than got dealt an Ace, King, Jack (different suits), being sharp as a tack, I saved the Ace...Kicker Aces popped up.
Fast forward to Sunday at Sams playing their crummy 9/5 $DDB, I was getting pretty much nothing and down about $500. An Ace Jack combo popped up (different suits) and being sharp as a tack, I held the Ace. The 10, J, Q & K popped up and there was my royal!
So 10K in W-2's certainly made it a positive trip. So skill is important, but luck sure beats it!

One final note of luck. Sunday evening Sams was having a fancy BBQ for invited guests, starting at 7:00. At 6:30 lightning knocked out the power to the hotel (not the casino, of course) and they announced they were delaying the dinner till 8:00. I looked at my wife and said forget it, lets go to the buffet and we did. Lots of seats and quick service, food OK. As we were leaving they announced they were cancelling the BBQ and everyone could eat free at the buffet...and the mob came!!! About a 1,000 folks were scheduled for BBQ and they descended on the buffet in mob fashion with fights over tables. We quickly beat feet to an empty casino.
Super wins, keep it up
Captain Bill, you play like I do, "perfect play" be damned. (Though maybe those were perfect plays.)

Once playing dollar DDB I was dealt four hearts to a heart royal including a heart Ace.
The fifth card was diamond Ace. Yes, I was tempted to keep both Aces.
Husband quoted some football coach, "NEVER TAKE POINTS OFF THE SCOREBOARD."

But, being sharp as a tack like you, I tossed the diamond Ace and got the heart needed to complete the Royal.
That is probably not in the book as being "perfect play", but it worked that time.

Another time I was dealt three Aces and two Jacks on DB.
I pondered a few seconds, then said to husband, "I'm gonna go for the Ace." (I must have been a little ahead on money.)
Some loud (and nosy) lady standing behind me yelled "NO, YOU NEVER THROW AWAY A FULL HOUSE!! ARE YOU CRAZY?"
Well, that sealed my decision. I tossed the Jacks and got the 4th Ace.
I was more happy to have shown this loudmouth nosy lady up than by getting the 4th Ace.
Actually they were perfect play, but alot of luck too on drawing four to a royal and four to kicker aces. Your hubby was wrong, four to a royal trumps 2 aces anytime. You always throw away a FH with aces high in DDB and I would go for it in DB too.
Pulling the A on the 4 to a royal was not bad odds, but the other 2 were way way up there. But than I actually got a dealt royal a couple of years ago at the IP in Biloxi.
Most folks show pictures of their kids or grandkids on their phone...mine are all gambling wins.

My wife had the same offer for the BBQ dinner, but she opted to stay in Little Rock to see Jake Owens in concert. I'm glad we didn't go now, that would have been a head ache. Congrats on the great hits. I usually play 9-6 Jacks at Sam's Town when we go.
