Slot payback

So as business in Las Vegas slows due to some exterior reason, say ressesion in 2008 or travel reduction after 911 or caronavirus fears, do the casinos adjust the slot payback to make up for the lost revenue?  If so how much?

Question 2. How does the casinos ability to change payback tables remotely work?  Can they watch a person walk up to a machine and lower the payback befor they sit down?

First question--It is anyone's guess.  Most guess "yes" but can only guess.  No casino will say so.  You will never hear it stated officially.   Bad for business.

Second question--Should you somehow catch that happening, and you can prove it, you can become extremely wealthy.

No, they don't. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying, ignorant, or both.

Most likely that person has an anti-gaming agenda, or is desperate to be seen as an "expert," or both. They are not experts, and they DON'T have any knowledge of the subject.

As in the way you mean; it DOES NOT. Why? Because they don't change payouts due to lack of traffic.

It's sad that so many, are so easily duped into believing this tripe. Stop blaiming the game/casino/world/whether etc... for inabilty to win.

++++++ HOW SLOTS WORK +++++++

Slot machines are math devices. While the payout can be adjusted, it CAN'T be done by casinos. It can only be done by the slot machine manufacturers, AND only after it's approved by NGC (gaming control board).

I know because I was an IT Director for a casino, and controled the systems that control the slot machines. I've also programmed gaming devices.

Slot machines are constantly running, even when you're not playing. It doesn't matter if it's played once, or a million times; it's still running the "game" continusly.

If you've plyed BINGO (or watched a lottery pull), you've essentially seen a slot machine running. The balls are moving, and only one drops out. The balls NEVER change. It's the "drop" (or lottery pull) that creates the winner; NOT the slot machine itself.

Some slots have changeable payouts, but it's based upon decisions YOU MAKE. It's usually on a choice menu. If you DON'T play "max coins" the payout is different, but that's on you; NOT THE MACHINE.

## Hacking?

It is possible to "hack" a slot machine? Yes. Is it likely to happen, or easy to get away with it? No.

Again, slots are MATH SYSTEMS. That means they are easily checked for anomalies, or changes; and they are checked regularly. That includes code comparisons, log checks, and system verifications.

## But But But Casinos cheat!

Anyone saying "casinos cheat" is saying "all casinos cheat." It's just not true, and it's childish.

Nevada (legitimate) gaming outlets are more regulated, and more closely watched than the nuclear industry.  That license, is essentially a license to print money. Even in the worst of times; it's a golden ticket.

Yes, some people do cheat. Yes, some casinos (poker sites, ahem) cheat; But slot machines are so easy to monitor by the NGC; it's not even worth it to the casino.

Could it happen someday. Sure; but so will the Second Coming. That's more likely, though.

Well, its not like they dont have the ability.  They do.   I dont know the laws but I suspect there is some limit as to how tight you can make a machine.   Might be a good QOD.

Its no secret that some places have tighter machines than others.    What variables they consider is likely due to their competition, customer base, and percent of revenue from gaming vs other stuff.

My guess is this:   when this virus rolls over there will be a slow recovery of people back to Vegas probably with fewer dollars than before.   Result - the casinos will fight and  do whatever they can to earn your business.     Expect generous room offers, food comps, and free play in the coming year.    I'm already getting them now
