South Point's June promo

No slot point promo for August there?   Is that a first?

There appears to be nothing, nothing, nothing.

This is not unprecented for SP, as there have been months in the past when they didn't offer anything. Usually, however, that was when they expected to be jam-packed anyway, like September, the beginning of foobaw season. I'm surprised to see this dearth of offers in August--that used to be a slow month for them. Maybe it isn't now...? I'm not aware of any horsie stuff going on there this month, or any other big event.

The promo is additional free play. 2.5 times.

You get your normal free play Mon, Tues or Wed. If you play it, then you get the same amount again on Fri or Sat. Each week. And if you do all the free play for the month, you get double the normal amount on 8/29.

Whaddya mean by "your normal free play"? Mailed offers?

I am sure that if one called South Point that they could/would clear up any confusion.

I never count on the person who answers the phone at the slot club to give me accurate info--I've been told some whoppers. Don, however, I trust.

Sounds like that promo is for locals?   Out of staters are not often going to be able to go back 3-4 days later in the same week.    Was this promo mentioned in the mailer?   I get a 2 month mailer, and the July-Aug one didn't mention any promos at all.

When I said "normal free play" I was refering to the free play shown in the monthly mailer. Yes, it was all explained in the August mailer. Guess it was for locals only.

They have had this promotion often in the past. Prior to this month, this promo was offered in March 2022, July 2021, February 2021 and October 2020. I could go back further, but just wanted to show that this month is not unique.

P.S. - Thanks Kevin!

I was there in March of 2022, definitely nothing for out of staters.

I've been a member of their slot club from the day the casino was founded. I've never gotten a single piece of mail from them--when I was a local, or when I lived elsewhere. I've asked them why several times. I've never gotten a coherent answer.

Likewise, I've never gotten a single email from them. I DO get occasional offers, and I find out about them only by calling my casino host (who oscillates between being Nancy Nice and the Wicked Witch of the South Strip), and a couple of times, by finding I had free rooms available when I called to make a reservation.

They do seem to have what I call Palmsitis. For most of the years of the Palms' existence, they struggled with the question: are we a locals' casino or not? Consequently, they always blew hot and cold--sometimes very generous to the locals, other times obviously courting the tourist crowd. SP might be trying to throw locals a bone with this mailer stuff, much as Stations (and Boyd too?) now have multiplier days "for invited locals only."

It's all part of the ongoing message Vegas is sending to visitors, "Show up, and we'll charge you a fortune and kick you in the nuts, but we know you're coming anyway, SUCKERS!!!!" Not great as a promotional slogan, but refreshingly honest.

Speaking only for me, I receive both mail and e-mail from the South Point on a regular basis. This correspondence always has free room offers, free play and a resort credit. I also can and do call and speak to a slot host whenever I need to book a room and/or request additional comped room nights, when available. I have never had a bad experience with any of the slot hosts - and most of them know me by name. Of course, I believe that being nice to people goes a long way in how I and many others are treated - something to think about.
