South Point's June promo

Originally posted by: tom

Just got back.  No matter the time, Southpoint is always busy.  No need for big promotions.  They settle for good low cost gambling, good inexensive food & shows.

A lot of $5 tables.

That is accurate.

I do wonder if they're sliding toward a locals orientation. Their current promo is all but useless to visitors.

Reminds me of how the Palms waffled for most of its prior existence. They were never quite sure who their target audience really was. And of course, now, both Stations and Boyd have unequivocally slammed their doors in out-of-towners' faces (Slot club points??? Fuck you!!!).

Vegas, barring some radical turnaround, will soon not be worth visiting.

Vegas has gotten so crowded that no one's going there.

There will be a radical drop-off in visitation in a few months. All the folks who came here during the post-pandemic feeding frenzy and gougefest have memories.

Vegas has forgotten that it depends on repeat customers. In a few months, they'll have to pivot back to their normal business model of being a value destination.

I am currently in Vegas now and Boilerman's comment is spot on. South point is ALWAYS busy - it is the model of how a casino should be run, just like the old days of Vegas.

The "old days of Vegas" didn't eliminate winners from getting offers to come back. Before slot clubs, Jackie Gaughn had the seasons club at El Cortez and the Las Vegas Club. You had to "WIN" a big enough jackpot to get in. You got free rooms and a meal at Roberta's four times a year. Michael seems to have forgotten that.

That is the reason my wife and I won't play at Southpoint. We're not losers!!!  LOL

South Point is the current exception proving the rule. Moderate prices, good rooms and food, and low-cost gambling used to be the Vegas norm. No Mas!

I'm just worried that South Point might decide that they don't have to be as generous any more, given that all the Strip joints (AND the locals' places) have been so successful with their gleeful gougefests. I've basically cut down my gambling and visitation to just a very few properties, and the commonality is that they didn't turn into Rip City during the post-pandemic rush.

I agree, South Point is busy for a reason. You could easily spend 3-4 days there and not feel the need to go elsewhere.
