Sports Betting Begins at Delaware Casinos

The first sanctioned single-game sports bet outside Nevada was a $10 wager on the Philadlephia Phillies placed at Dover Downs on Tuesday, 5 June.

A thought has occurred to poor old DonDiego.  As legal sports betting commences at different venues across America, it would seem that the line on a game . . . say, Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears, . . . might be significantly different at a casino in Illinois versus a casino in Pennsylvania, as Chicagoans favor Da Bears and Philadelphians favor the Birds.

This would enable someone able to track such line variances to improve his chances by selecting the book in the locale offering the better odds.

Betting syndicates may well prosper.

Hmm, . . . being a runner might be a way for poor old DonDiego to augment his retirement income.

I believe you will be correct about regional line variations, betting syndicates and employment opportunities.

The sports books in local casinos will be run by major operators in the business already. Local joints will not have the money or the time to hire "experts" in setting lines or the day to day operations in running their own book. Also, big action on a game could really hurt a small casinos bottom line. You may see MGM, Caesars and the like start buying up the smaller joints on state lines to draw action if one state should offer it before another.
