Stage Door behind Flamingo, Ballys

Just for fun and giggles, anyone want to share their experiences about the Stage Door Dive behind the Flamingo?

Have you been there?

Sounds like a daytime visit only place, but fun, if you like dives.

What caught my attention was this person posted somewhere on LVA forums that he was at Ballys and had to do a all day convention meeting there during one day of their trip.

His wife was with him, but that day, she went to the Stage Door, while he got bored to no end at the meetings, and played all day on 5c VP on $20.

She was totaly wasted by the time he got out of his boring convention/meeting.

I think this is so funny.

He was ready to go play now, and she was wasted.... all on $20.

Anyone have any tales to share about this place, or other LV dives?
Never been back there.... just taking a shuttle bus down that back road the area with little apartments, etc looks kind of like a situation not to put yourself into.

Understand Harrahs has a warehouse behind Ballys that they trim/process/store all the great steaks you eat in their casino steakhouses. Wonder if Roscoe gets any doggie bags?
When you walk to the EI, you walk right past it. And then the walk to the EI is another 10 minutes after that.

If someone is afraid to walk to the Stage Door, then the EI at an additional ten minute walk even further away from the strip is even worse.

I would not walk to the EI alone, or at night.

When at Ballys and Paris, we walked it during daylight, to go to the 7-11 (for Hotel in room goodies) that is right next to the EI.

The 7-11 is a normal stop for us on day one, but for some reason, never stopped in to the EI.

This time, we are going to do it!

And as for the Stage Door, I never knew it was there, yet it is right on Flamingo, unlike the 7-11 and EI, and so much closer to the strip too!

But not at night, no way!!! EI and 7-11 included.

Is that "We have xx years remaining on our lease" still up on that little joint along Flamingo?

Yes, and from I understand, they have 20 years left..

It is sad, but that place is likely to outlast Wifey and I...

Is there a Vegas in Heaven?

Yep, that's the Stage Door. Been in there once, just to see it on an early Saturday afternoon. It's basically just a dive bar, but good prices. Had a 24oz beer and a 1/4 lb hot dog for $2.50.

I'd go back again if I was hungry on the strip for something cheap and fast. But I wouldn't take a vacation to go see it.
If you go in one door your in a little mom and pop store that has cheap bottle water, breakfast cereal, snacks and most anything you need in day to day hotel living. If you walk in the other door you find yourself in a seedy VP slot joint. They don't seem to be one business but together Stage Door is a Vegas treasure that I rarely miss.

It and EI are are perfectly safe to walk to at any hour.
I've never been in the stage door but I usually stop at the 7-11 for bottled water and room snacks. We stay at Paris and I once carried an 18 pack of water from 7-11 to Paris. By the time we got to the room, my arms were a little sore from carrying that water for what must be a half mile or better.

Maybe on my next trip I'll go to the stage door instead. It's a little closer. Are the prices comparable? I've walked from the back of Bally's to Ellis Island at all hours of the day and night. I never felt threatened. If I were a woman by myself, I would probably avoid that walk at night.
I haven't been in a few years, but I've lost a few brain cells there when I've stayed at Bally's. The drinks are dirt cheap there like $2.50 for domestic bottles and I think $4 for a kettle one and redbull. They comp your drinks if you play quarters and up (used to be even if you played nickels). The games are really bad (I think the DDB is either 6/5 or 7/5). I would play nickels and pay for my drinks. I remember the crowd being mostly construction workers and people who live right around the bar. The bartenders are very nice, fun, and very attentive. It is extremely smokey, so you'll need a shower when you leave. Hope this helps, -Russ

The Stage Door is a little club. I don't think it's associated with the liquor store you're thinking of, that's right there on Flamingo.
