station/fiesta pts on 100% payback machines

Wonder if someone else can verify. First I was aware of it, but can't imagine it would be something stations would generate a lot of publicity on, either.

"Effective December 19th, Station/Fiesta Casinos have tripled the coin-in needed to earn one point on the 100% payback machines. Used to be $4 to earn 3 points (.075%). Now it's $12 to earn 3 points (.025%). Also free play can no longer be downloaded and played on 100% machines."
Verified.
Add to that their resort fees (Fiesta Rancho is quite a resort wth their drive up betting window) and the fact you need a car to get to all of them for us outta towners, the cheap buffet and the cafe menu specials are the only reason to go the Stations now in my opinion. Eat and run is what I will do probably if I bother to go at all.

I am not sure they love locals anymore.

WOW. There's full pay VP but all of the drama is not worth it. Yes, below $2 or $5 machines, there's not full pay at CET casinos but for the same coin in I get 4-5x much free play from CET casinos, more shows, more promos in general 50x more ways to use my reward creidts, etc. and whether I play a lot or a little I'm okay. I once had a host find me at a Stations casino to tell me I "needed to play a bit more." Years later that stays in my mind. Yes, I was playing light because I had lost elsewhere the day before checking in. It was so short sighted on the host's part because but I've also given Stations a LOT of play over the years.

I'll be headed to Vegas in about 2 days. I was thinking about cancelling a comped two-day stay at a Stations casino because now I really don't need it. I think I've just decided to cancel and I'll still get my free play anyway.

I found that out at Red Rock last week.

That doesn't affect my decision to play there at all since I like being the favorite at video poker while still getting upfront room and food offers.
They do have lots of machines labeled "99.8%," with multi-games and multi-denominations. These still give 3 points for every $1 played. I play them at Santa Fe.

We also play the 99.8% rows. Depending on which casino you visit, there are lots of them (or maybe just a few). Tonycc hit a royal on one of them last week, and also made Chairman for the next 1/2 year. .... Not a bad deal.

Stations have become our #1 destination ... replacing our long-time favorite, Sam's Town.

With all the comps I get at Stations, especially RR, the 9/6 DDB is fine with me. I very seldom go to the positive machines (except for the one I've hit 3 royals on at GVR). Over the last 3 years I am way ahead at Stations, and keeping President status has been easy.
I'll keep my Emerald at Coast and still go to Sams with the Gold Card offers, but prefer Orleans with all their 9/6 machines.
I like to play the 50 cent triple play slant tops in the high limit room at Santa Fe. They have 9/7 DB and 8/5 Bonus. That's where I prefer to lose my money. There are also some 10 play 5 cent uprights between Chrome Bar and the theaters that have 9/7 DB. You can rack up a lot of points there without losing your shirt if you have a little luck. I only get out there three or four times a year and have reached a platinum level for whatever that is worth. I think the seniors point days are pretty good deal. They also email me 6x point day offers. I don't stay there because I get much better offers from the GC with less play. The Orleans just doesn't work for me. If I won there, it would be different - but it just doesn't feel comfortable for me like the GC. I think the Stations might be best for the locals but the other casinos offer better deals for the the occasional visitor - JMHO.

The kiosks now say that effective 1/1/2013 no points carry over. Anyone playing fp vp is going to find it prohibitive to reach a high card level. They are slowly removing fp machines.
