The Stratosphere...nice rooms..tough casino!

Just returned from staying at the Strat for 4 days.

Pros
Select rooms were very neci and modern. Huge flat screen (bigger than my Flat screen at Paris where I moved to for the last 2 days).
Cheap gaming....$5.00 craps most days and $10.00 paigow
Starbucks
VIP office open around the clock for replacing missed keys etc.
Some of the friendliest dealers on the strip!

Cons
"Timing is everything"...I was there at the same time the Lowriders group "ROLLERS" was having their national convention there. Tough crowd! Oooooowweee!
Worse VP on the strip! "Decent" VP gets no points.
Slowest valet on the strip! 20 min waits were the norm although the runners were always courteous.
DARKEST casino in America...or at least the 1's that I have visited!
More Atm's that didn't work than those that did work!

ATM"s and valet may have just been a glitch that weekend (10/10-14) so I'll give them a break on that.

My son is getting married in April and they just booked a package deal with air/hotel and are staying at the Strat. We haven't been to Vegas in several years and only visited the Strat once to use our coupon for free trip up to the tower. I suggested they rent a car since it's a long hike to the strip and cab fare will eat up any car rental cost. We may stay a couple of nights (if I can talk my husband into it) but are planning to stay at Main Street the other nights. We always rent a car so we can drive them around some before everyone arrives for the weekend celebration.

I remember clocking the distance once and from Stratosphere to Circus-Circus, the walk was about 1/2 a mile, so depending on where on the Strip that you are going, it's not necessarily that far of a walk (unless maybe someone has some mobility issues or it's blazing hot, cold, windy or rainy).

Thanks for the info.

The walk from one casino to the next isn't so bad....but if you wanna reach the "tourist" casinos (starting with the Wynn/Encore/Palazzo/Venetian quartet) we're talking a good mile and a half.
You won't want to walk it after dark for sure.
Seems like everytime I stay at the Strat I always have a good story to tell aftewards...
- whether its the incredibly loud hookers going at it with a John in the next room
- or a fist fight at the casino bar
- or someone passing out on the dance floor

Its always a guaranteed good time

One time staying at the Strat, I went up to my room, something like 26424, which is like the
16th floor, lots of people in elevator pushing #'s 2,4 7, 15, 16 etc. very late at night, I accidently
got off the floor before mine went down the hallway to last room on left, insert key open door and hear
snoring, WTF I turned on the light by the door and there 2 people sleeping in seperate beds, I looked
around and realized this is not my room? shut off light walk back to elevator go up one floor all the way
down the hall to the last room on the left and enter MY room with the same room key!!
