Stratosphere now a video poker wasteland

As seen on VPFree2 and confirmed during our recent stay at the Strat- all, and I mean all playable video poker is gone leaving 7/5 bonus poker and 9/5 JOB.

I like the place but why go if there is nothing to play and so many other casinos interested in attracting customers.

I don't get the thinking which seems to go like this;

1. economic downturn reduces activity resulting in fewer gamblers and smaller gambling budgets for those who do show up
2. ramp down comps and reduce the pay tables on video poker
3. Conduct a marketing survey to determine why the players are not showing up.

IMHO- Vegas does not care about those who have been going to Vegas for years. The thinking is that new visitors will not know the difference about good vs. bad games. The new visitors will be "trained" to accept the bad games as the new norm. Long term Vegas visitors, such as myself, might as well get used to the "new" Vegas as long as the uninitiated support the bottom line. Corporate America has ruined the Vegas we used to know. It is all about the bottom line and shareholder profits.
I hope they didn't do the same at Aquarius. We go there every Christmas and they have always had decent VP.

Tonyrob-

We also were at the Aquarius and found most of the inventory from VPfree2 still intact. The only thing I didn't find is the triple play dollar 9/6 JOB in the high limit area.
The banks of positive play games by the buffet area in quarters are still marked "100%" and there are playable games on the bar tops.

Thanks Paul!

I trust you reported this to vpFREE2. They make updates reported by users and I'm sure you're a reliable scout!

Yes but thanks for checking

I will always have a soft place in my heart for the Strat as it was where I hit my first royal, but have to admit we haven't been there in a while as hubby got pissed off one day. We had walk down there in 100+ degree weather and sat down to play and when the cocktail waitress finally came around order a drink and a bottle of water to go with it. We were told we could either get a drink or a bottle of water but not both. WOW---most of the other places we visited on that trip were almost shoving water down your throat since it was so hot outside. What a way to cheap out for a casino.

That indeed is poor service and inexcusable.

I went online to check their parent company's financials (American Casino Entertainment) and they are still losing money due to debt service on loans.
I hope they turn it around and return the video poker to decent levels.

That's too bad that their VP has gotten so bad! I did like the place and I miss the days when they (and Vegas World before them) had 9/7 and 10/6 Jacks Or Better VP!
