Super Bowl Bets

Ok. I sent this question in fro a QOD as well but thought I would ask here as well.
I was lucky enough to buy a futures ticket on Jan. 12 for $500 for the Carolina Panthers to win the Superbowl.
The ticket says that if this happens I will collect $2650 leaving me with a $2150 profit.
Now that the Panthers are in the game and the favorites this leaves me with a good problem. I am deciding what my next move should be. With the Broncos getting 4 points I am tempted to bet the $2150 on the Broncos hoping for a Panthers win of no more than 4 points. Or should I just bet a portion of the $2150 and lock up a profit of some sort and possibly a bigger score if it does land in the middle?
Nice position to be in.

The line has moved up to 4.5 and Stations has it at 5. I would not be surprised for it to settle around 5 or 5.5.

You can hedge by either taking the Broncos on the money line (now around +170 or so) or by taking the Broncos plus the points. As you said, taking the Broncos with the points gives you an opportunity to win both bets.

IMHO, its issue is not whether to hedge or not, but which way to hedge - money line or points. And how much.

Personally I would bet $1100 plus the points on Denver.
If Carolina wins by more than the spread, you win $1050.
If Denver wins, you would have a net win of $500.
If Carolina wins but doesn't cover, you win $3150.

I'm sure there are some math gurus out there who can figure out how to maximize your return, but I ain't one of them. Just going by the seat of my pants!

Good luck with whatever you do!
This game will be a blowout. Carolina will win BIG - personally, I would give the points and bet BIG on Carolina. Just my humble opinion....
I would bet Carolina and take the over with a parley...

as much as I would love to see Manning win, the panthers looked unstoppable sunday. some crazy crap would have to happen for the broncos to win against the panthers. I think NC could even beat NE in the super bowl had it turned out that way.
Don,
Your thinking is right in line with what I am thinking I will do. Though I am pretty sure Carolina will win this why take the chance when I can lock in a sure profit.

Another option is to bet less on Denver plus the points. You really liked Carolina to bet them in the first place. So why go "that much" against your instincts. Only bet $550 on Denver plus the points. Then you have:

If Carolina wins by more than the spread, you win $1600.
If Denver wins, you would have a net win of $0.
If Carolina wins but doesn't cover, you win $2650.

Or bet somewhere in between $550 to $1100 on Denver.

Whatever you do...Good Luck!!
