This insane video poker win is insane

The game is insane to play...the amount bet was insane...winning one 10x multiplier isn't the easiest...being dealt a royal is insane..winning the second 10x multiplier...and doing it with multiplay.  Absolutely crazy that this hit, like this.  I wonder how often this is expected to happen with these machines?  Wow!

And you know what? He's still down $5 million for the year!!😆😆😆

Actually, it's not QUITE as otherworldly a result as might first appear. In Double Super Times Pay, if you get a dealt royal with ANY multiplier, the two multipliers (deal and draw) both automatically default to 10x, giving the player 20x in total.

So a dealt royal is just a bit less than 650,000 to one, and the odds of a multiplier on that game are 1 in 15, so...9,750,000 to one chance.

I'm not even being all that facetious about that player being behind more than the amount of the jackpot. $105 a spin at a modest 400 hands per hour is $42,000/hr risked. A hot and heavy evening of play? $200,000, easy. I can easily imagine such a player, especially if habitual, being deep, deep into negative seven or even eight figure territory.

But Resorts World DID comp him a bagel with cream cheese after that hit!

Thank you Kevin, I had no idea about the automatic 10x.  That does drop the drama down a bit.  And I bet (get it?) that you're right about the player, but I like to think it's some nice lady in Vegas for the first time, with a mortgage, spending their nest egg and maybe pocketing a few hundred grand at least.

Maybe so, but...I doubt it. If you're betting six hundred bucks a minute, on a negative EV game (this game was about 98% return), you're deep into the gambling swamp. I doubt that it's even fun for him at this point.

But you wanna know the kicker? The new gambler's tax law says that he can only deduct 90% of his losses! So let's say that this $12 million got him even. He can only subtract 10.8 million and will have to pay taxes on the other 1.2..even though he hasn't won anything!!!

I predict, sadly, that this guy will go busto before the end of 2026. The rational move would be to say "Thank God" and QUIT. Do you think he'll do that? Hell, no! He'll start playing $500 a spin now.

The Sun likes to report jackpots, but this isn't good news for anybody, least of all this lucky shlub whom Resorts World has loaned $12 million.

I wonder how many days it takes for the Resorts World casino to win that money back from everyone else in the casino.    I'd guess pretty close to a week....no idea really.

Just an FYI

Jackpot was 1.2 million, not 12 million

Good catch. $105 a spin is $5 denom + bonus bet on SDTP Triple Play. So, $20K x 20 = $400K x 3 lines = $1.2 million.

I revise my earlier statement, then. This guy will be broke by Valentine's Day.

Yeah, that's the LVS's url---as periods don't work in URLs. But yeah.

This is a 99.48% game and the best one in the casino. So not such a bad decision although exceptionally volatile. I usually grind out 50 cent 8/5 bonus poker 25-50 hands at a time on the other side of that bank, and have told the slot attendant to just put me on auto pay once I've hit a couple of big hands at that bet level. I have played a little bit of $5 8/5 bonus poker and Illinois deuces wild 3 handed at $75 a spin but probably would go insane at higher denominations or more hands.
