Anyone been able to figure out the new Boyd formula? I have been told nothing has changed they are just enforcing ratio's now. I called Gold Coadt and s host there told me comps were based on win/loss. No one has the same answer! 🤣

Bob Dancer recently wrote an article about the Boyd system and their mystery tier credits formula. https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/gambling-with-an-edge/its-not-like-that/

Dancer thinks that the purpose of their new system is to market to locals at the expense of out-of-towners. My theory is a little different: I think they've realized that people who pay close attention to the formulas are not their most profitable customers.
Very interesting....Over the years I have become good friends with many of the locals that frequent the Orleans, they are feeling the pain as well
Boyd has been very secretive about tier point earning rate, but when they changed to their new system around 2017 or 2018 (bastards!), a lot of people did some reverse-engineering and the consensus (which seems correct, or at least was for that first year or two; maybe things have changed, maybe they haven't) was that on VP, one tier point is earned for every 50 cents of theoretical loss. So, for example, 9/6 JoB has a theo of 0.46%, so you should earn one tier point per $109 coin-in (or make Sapphire for about $81,500 per year, or per six months, or whatever it is. I agree with Mr Picture, they're looking for dumb and content, not for us.

I don't think there's any evidence that tier points are based on win/loss; I think there's plenty of evidence that employees don't generally know and are eager to just make up an answer. I know that back when they changed the system, the talking point was that "nothing has changed, and the new system will give you many more benefits." What a bunch of horseshit.
Â
Again, the formula may have changed over the years, I haven't been paying attention because we're done with Boyd. It shouldn't be hard to confirm, though, just clock your tier point earnings and see if it's consistent with the above. Good luck!
Thanks for sharing! This validates exactly what I thought was going on...I have been debating this with the regional VP for Boyd in Vegas who tries to say nothing has changed. Crazy to take that position when it is obvious to all of us how much has changed.
Slate, when things went downhill with Boyd, my wife emailed someone at the corporate office (I didn't waste my time). The response was prompt and friendly, all about how she wasn't seeing the situation as it is and how nothing has changed at all, and how the new system would actually reward her more than ever. I think this was called The Big Lie back in 1930s Germany.

I don't think that comparing Boyd Group to Nazi Germany is fair to Nazi Germany.
