vegas still has value

Las vegas is always changing. As players and gamblers, we have to change our habits as well.  The beauty of Las vegas is we have options.  Just because you have a bad trip or two doesn't mean las vegas sucks.  Maybe it means you haven't done enough to keep up with the times or maybe you are playing too agressive to get to the next tier level.  I would love to hear about some positive changes players are making to have better trips !

I agree that Vegas's suckage has nothing to do with my trip's results. It sucks now and will almost certainly continue to suck no matter what I do.

My positive change is that I now visit exactly three* of Vegas's casinos and ignore all the ripoff joints and Strip megatoilets. I play where my visitation is actually welcomed and acknowledged.

*It was four, until one casino pulled the plug on its good gambling.

We still visit multiple properties every trip to keep our offers coming and keep our points active.  Everyone has their own favorites for different reasons, but if you do your own scouting sometimes you find some nice options.

Those who hate Vegas might consider no longer visiting.  I moved from Strip hotels to downtown hotels about 20 years ago.  I'm guessing that I'll move to other hotels in the future as the downtown value proposition decreases.

That being said, I'll never understand the venom.

Boilerman - I still stay and play at the 4 Queens and El Cortez downtown, both of which have playable games. I have moved from all Boyd properties to the Tuscany and South Point and I am pleased with my choices. I also receive offers for free rooms from the Moheghan Sun ( used to be Hard Rock) and Palace Station and I will continue to avail myself of those offers as long as I continue to receive them. As Jean Scott has said, never marry yourself to a casino. Those who spew venom are those who never seem to be happy and seldom have anything positive to say about most everything.

Agreed.

A company's objective, at least 99% of the time, is to maximize profits for investors.  Their objective is not to make a particular group happy.....unless that makes the company money.

Those who disagree should start their own casino and make the big bucks selling stuff under cost.

Your silly statement might have some validity if not for the fact that Vegas +was a fun BARGAIN destination for decades--and the casinos made money hand over fist.

Charging the absolute maximum for everything is rarely a good business strategy. Many people are paying those insane prices now, but they'll remember--and they may not return.

Thanks for the positive comments, it is refreshing.  We spend alot of time in Las vegas every year and rarely go to the strip either. There aren't alot of good games at Virgin , but we have found a few that we like to play.  No smoke or crowds and free parking.  While the players club seems very tight we too love the free rooms with minimal play.

Brent - you description of Virgin is exactly why I enjoy being there.I hope that they loosen up the games, I feel that doing so would bring in more people and give the place more life.

Yeah, over in the Kitchen Sink, we have a guy who has started over 150 threads just in the last week, each one of them complaining about something and not saying anything positive about anything. He does this daily. He never seems to be happy.

I forget his name.
