Hi Group,

I'm seeing in the comments section to the recent LVA poll about Virtual Vs. Human Dealers that people aren't paying close attention to what a player Blackjack pays on those machines. I have vastly seen machines say that Blackjack pays "2 For 1." But they don't understand that this is actually casino speak for saying that it actually pays 1 To 1 (which is Even-Money).

When Blackjack pays Even-Money (as opposed to the much better 3 To 2 -- which is 1.5 To 1), that causes a drain on people's money of about 2% in and of itself. But then, in combination with other bad rules (restricting Doubling Down, Splitting And Resplitting Pairs as well as Doubling Down After Splitting Pairs), that makes the casino advantage go even higher!

If I'm understanding this correctly, if the machine only allows players to Hit Or Stand (and I have seen such machines around on multi-game machines), then the casino advantage goes up to about 4%! This is just horrible!

So players really need to pay attention to everything that the machine is offering. A whole lot of people will just go sit in front of a machine and not pay any attention to what rules are (or are not) offered.
