Video Poker - Do you change machines after win?

Just a stupid question from a VP newbie. After a big win like a royal or 4 of a kind with a kicker. Do you quit playing that machine because of the win or is it totally random and doesn't matter? Just wondering what the more experienced players would do.
The experts will tell you that it's totally random and doesn't matter which machine you play. I agree, in theory, but in practice I'll play awhile on the same machine and if I start to see a downward trend in winnings I'll bail. (I also will play that machine on my next trip to that casino as way of paying homage to the vp gods, fwiw.)

I stay on the same machine. The only time I get up is to stretch my legs and rest my eyes.

It's not always "what the more experienced players would do",

but what the smartest players would do, ................... and that would be to Ca$h Out and Go Home !!!!!

Rick

The "experts" and the "experienced players" will tell you it does not matter. I have my doubts about their advice. Just remember, those video poker machines are programmed to payback a certain percentage -- ever wonder where that payback percentage amount of money comes from? Think about it.....

Actually, I don't think that is correct. VP machines are programmed to reflect a random distribution of 52 cards. The payback percentage is determined by the pay schedule, not the programming. One can't program a vp machine to payback 90 percent vs 99 percent other than altering the pay schedule clearly spelled out on the machine.
David- you could be right, but after playing video poker for over 20 years I have found that video poker machines seldom have repeat winners after hitting a royal or similar premium hand. As for altering the pay schedule goes, I have my doubts about the server programmed machines that are now in vogue. I have found that Rock' n Rick's advice to be well founded.
I have had some of my best runs by staying on a machine after I hit. I have hit 4 aces several times on a machine back to back (with in 15 minutes). Hit a royal and then aces with a kicker within 15 minutes back in Dec. But then again have been on a machine and never hit a 4 oak in over 2 hours. If one knew when to stay on a machine or changes machines then it wouldn't be gambling.
It makes no less sense to put a quarter into a VP machine after a big win as it makes to put a quarter into a VP machine in the first place.

The RNG in a Nevada VP machine has no more idea it just paid you a royal than it does that it just stiffed you.
I usually take the money and run. Can't stand the thought of giving it all back.
