Well it's Preakness Time

Bodemeister is back in California and will not race at Belmont. Union Rags returns to the fray after being badly ridden at the Derby and skipping the Preakness, he may be contending at the finish. Optimiser is the only other Derby horse returning but will not be competitive. In a field of twelve mostly new shooters it looks like I'll Have Another will have an easy ride. I will watch but I don't yet see any good bets.
I thought Dullahan would go to the Belmont. He was a fast closing 3rd in the Derby.
I did overlook Dullahan, he showed in the Derby and skipped the Preakness. Out of his six races he won two, both at Keenland, maybe he likes that new surface.

At this point I see him fighting for third with Street Life. I have climbed onto the I'll have another bandwagon, the only horse that can beat him in the Belmont is I'll Have another.

I still will have to figure out how to bet the race. Betting on IHA to win is pointless.
rockymet, you're talking like I'll Have Another is a shoe-in. I'm sure he is the best horse in the field, but the best horse doesn't always win. It's very hard on a 3 y/o to race 3 long races in 5 weeks time. Since the last triple crown winner, there have been many that have won the first two. I think I'll have another will get beat in the Belmont, and if Dullahan is in the race, he may be the horse to do it.

I have come around to believing that I'll Have Another is the best horse in the field and will be the overwhelming favorite. So much so that I will not be placing a straight bet on him.

Three long races in five weeks is toiling for modern horses and the Belmont is the longest race that three year olds run but IHA look very fit after the Preakness.

Anything can happen in a race, look at Union Rags trip in the Derby, but overall I tend to bet on the best horses.
I'll be putting together exactas and trifectas around IHA, UR, Dullahan and Street Life. Anyway it's sure to be a good race.
Early Belmont odds:

I'll Have another 4-5
Union Rags 6-1
Dullahan 5-1
Street Life 15-1

I do miss Bodemeister to push things along.
