What Percent to Tip on Handpays?

I can't speak for what occurs at other casinos, but when I pay your taxable (if it's under $5,000), I send the amount through, I get all your info, I go to the computer/jackpot terminal and enter all your info, and print the jackpot ticket and the W2-G. I then return to your machine and pay you. The only thing done in any office is when they later check to make sure I didn't mess anything up, and if I did, I am the one who is punished. That being said, there are generous people and there are not-so generous people, and I accept your decision as to whether or not you tip and how much you tip.
I forgot one thing. The only other person involved is if the jackpot is over $2,500. In that case, I must call "S-2", that roving camera in the sky, and they are supposed to witness the payoff from their post.
If the jackpot is $5,000 or more, a manager must witness the payoff, and if it is $10,000 or more, my shift manager must witness.
I will back up my statements by making sure I am perceived in the proper light here.

I tip for service levels not because I won or lost.

If I have someone serve me with stellar customer service I will tip them whether I won or lost.

The guy cleaning the restroom may not make much compared to his "boss" in the back office but if he goes above and beyond I may get him a fiver...to me tips have nothing to do with the money you win or lose they are all about service or exemplary behaviour.

If I am walking down the street and a kid goes out of his way to help someone that needs help I may give the kid 5 bucks for doing the right thing.

I believe tokes and tips are all toward a person't behaviour...when you tip a percentage on wins etc. to me that is a payoff not a tip.
I think the main reason why people would tip more for a larger jackpot is the same reason why someone hits the lottery and steps forward and donates money to the local volunteer fire departments, mobile coronary care units, hospice, etc. etc. It's all about sharing the wealth. If I win ten million bucks tomorrow, I don't know who has done all the paperwork, who has printed all the tickets, etc. I just know that I am one happy son-of-a-bitch, and would feel like a stingy bastard if I kept all the money to myself. If I hit 5 numbers out of 6, and get $500, eveyone has done just as much work, and the fire companies and hospice are still in need, but they won't get a dime from me. It's all about how much money goes into my pocket.

In all fairness, I should add, thanks for tipping, whether it's a little or alot, or whether you base it on how much you won or not, anything helps.
