Winstar trip

Just got back from Winstar, a huge Casino on the Oklahoma/Texas border. Was going to sit down on a Blackjack game and noticed the worst odds I have ever seen.  They have the Oklahoma Tax of .50 a hand and they had a automatic shuffler(6 decks). I made a mistake of putting down a $100 but quickly asked for my money back without playing a hand. I would guess the house odds are 10% or better. The same anti (.50) tax is played on craps and roulette and all other card games. We were comped one night from a previous trip but then were charged a $10 resort fee. The slots were ok but thats all we played.

sounds pretty much like there are casinos everywhere in the U.S. and they all want to be profitable but the investments are so high and tax bills are high, too, so the casinos have no options but to squeeze the lemon. Low limit players are the biggest losers on a 0.50 dollar tax per hand....it would take a 250 dollar bet per round to mage it irrelevant....

The Oklahoma Casinos near the Missouri border are in abundance, therefore they are in competition.  They waive the 50 cent ante.  Tulsa area, the River Spirit waives the ante on the $25 tables, The Osage casinos, (3)  waives the ante 3 days a week, the Hard Rock charges an ante 24/7. The Downstream, Buffalo Run and Indigo Sky never charges an ante, they are near the Missouri line.  I hope you had a chance to play the "crack cocaine of slots", VGT's, Hunt for Neptune's Gold.  They are so addictive.  Oklahoma may be the only place that has VGT slots.

Two more facts about the ante,  If you wager $50 or more, ante goes up to $1.  The casinos that don't have the ante still pay the ante to the state out of the casinos pocket.  This practice is called pushing the ante.
