Joe Pane vs. The Palms

So tonight I hit a $4,000 Royal at the Palms and they refuse to pay me because they say I'm trespassed off of the property. What they fail to realize is that 13 months ago I requested to have the 86 lifted when ownership changed so I could host a poker tournament in their poker room. The ban was lifted for poker and slots but remained for table games.

But of course tonight they say they have no record of that happening how nice.

The $4,000 is being held in the cage until this is resolved. Gaming was called and is looking into this.

Can you say Bob Nersesian

Had a meeting today with the 2 gaming agents assigned to this case. Gave them a written statement as to what occured and supplied them with the Palms employees name that informed me the 86 ban was lifted for the property but no table games allowed.

Lets see what happens now. Spoke with an attorney today who believe they have no right to refuse to payoff on the jackpot.

Joe Pane vs. The Palms continues
Well in only 9 days the Nevada Gaming Board informed me that the Palms will pay me the $4,000 that I won fair and square at their casino. I'm wondering how such a complete change of action happened. Because the night I won, their Slot manager told me neither he or the Palms were going to pay me this money. I informed him he was correct as far as not being paid that night, but once I contacted Bob Nersesian he/they would come to their senses.

Here is an update on this saga.

I was scheduled to be paid by the Palms on Friday Oct 11 with a Nevada Gaming Agent present to witness the payoff. The Palms required me to sign the tax form for the payout (No Problem) and then sign a trespass form (A Problem) before they would pay me.

After talking with the agent later that night as I did not go to the Palms when I heard their request. I was given the number of the Slot Director to try to come to a mutual understanding to settle this.

My phone call to him was pretty short and sweet and he said no payment if I didnt sign the trespass form. I asked him if I was already 86th why do I need to sign the form. He had no answer for that. I told him you want me to sign it because you have no current record of trespassing me on file, because it was removed 16 moths ago. And you are trying to use this to not pay me.

I informed gaming of the failure to resolve this over the phone as I was NOT signing the trespass form EVER.

Gaming has let me know they will be sending the Palms the necessary forms demanding payment on my behalf and I will receive my check from the Palms via Nevada Gaming Board.

There is a very good chance that the Palms will be cited for this infraction and fined. Why do casino suits that are hired to watch the casinos money make choices that actually cost the casino more money. I bet if the Slot Director had to pay the fine out of his own pocket he would deal with this in a way that would be wise for his employer. If I was in charge at the Palms this guy would be looking for a new job.

It becomes so tiresome to have to deal with the low level mentality of casino employees on a daily basis just to do what one likes to do and to do what one does in order to try to win a few dollars. Nice work all the way around in taking all of the proper actions that you did Joe to not let these dinosaurs step on whomever they want, whenever they want to.
If my memory is correct Mr. Peterson you also had some issues with a downtown casino refusing to pay you on a promotion you played and met all of the requirments on.

They as you have said will try to walk all over good honest patrons. Sometimes these patrons just roll over and walk away unsatisfied without receiving what is due them.

You on the other hand stand firm in your convictions. I follow that course of action myself. I refused to go pick up my $4,000 with conditions attached to it.

My condition that I have attached to my demand now is that all 40 $100 bills be facing the same way when they are handed over to me.

Here is another update on the Joe Pane vs. The Palms

On Oct 29th, I received a copy of the letter that the Gaming Control Board wrote to the Palms informing them after their investigation of the IGT "Fifty Play Draw Poker" slot dispute that the facts and circumstances of the case substantiated my claim of the $4,000.

It goes on to say the previous trespass does not invalidate the jackpot.

It also says that my using my wifes Palms slot card may violate Palms players club policies but it does not invalidate the jackpot

They have been directed to pay this jackpot within 20 days of this letter.

I thank the Gaming Control Board and their agent that was in charge of this case for their work on seeing that a jackpot that was won fair and square was paid out.

There is still hope for the little guys here in Las Vegas. Years ago I may have not been paid.

I my dispute, I was sent a check, from the violating casino, through the offices of the Nevada Gaming Board, after a similar finding that I had done nothing illegal and the casino was in violation involving the dispute. I assume that you case will be settled in a similar fashion.
So last night I was called by the Nevada Gaming agent who was in charge of this case and was informed that the Palms has sent them my $4,000 check which I will be able to pick up on Friday. I do not have to sign any trespass forms to receive my check which was a condition the Palms tried to force on me.

You see that you do not have to take the casinos BULLSHIT that they try to ram down your mouth every chance they have.
I want to thank the Palms casino for making me feel like I won $4,000 twice, the night I won and Friday when I pick up my check.

I wonder how the slot mgr. feels now after he told me the night I won. "you are NEVER getting this money.
Score one for the little guy vs. the Big Bad Casinos

I want to thank the Palms NOT

The check has been cashed. I will be writing an article with pictures attached about this attempted injustice by the Palms Casino and their slot manager in the December issue of BJInsider.com
