Casino at the empire

While on my royal wedding trip I of course had to get in at least one day for poker. It took us about 30minutes to get back to the trfalgar hotel after the wedding because of the crowds and traffic control. But safe in our room my friend and I watched the rest of the spectacle from the television. It then took until close to 7pm for the roads to reopen so I could take a taxi to leicester square where the empire was. It's only about a ten min walk but I couldn't do it and was very tired from all the walking I had already done. The casino is tucked away in the back and there was a see of people hanging out in the square. I got into the poker room and they had 6 games going 5- 1/2 nlhe and 1-1/3 nlhe. I was a bit surprised no PLO at all given I thought that was the game in Europe. I played the 1/2 for about 15 min until a seat opened up at the 1/3 game.

Overall the play wasn't that bad but wasn't that good either. I would say that more than anything the players would be called calling stations. They really were a bit loose after the flop and all I can tell is that they in general were bluff catchers. I didn't quite figure this out until after my nut flush and gunshot St draw missed and I bluffed the river when a guy called my w second nut St. I did end up winning a nice hand against the most aggressive player at the table when he raised I reraised 1/3 my stack with ak and he shoved. I called and hit trips. I thought he had at best qq but didn't see his hand since I had to turn my cards over First. Did manage to win 100 pounds so happy with that

Planning on returning next year for the Olympics and got the skinny on where else to play in London. The Vic has games ranging from1/2 all the way up to 5/10. The palms has even bigger games. Might try the Vic next time. But probably nothing bigger With the exchange rate that would be really big for me.

Now in Oxford after having visited Windsor castle yesterday. It's nice in the pub drinking a pint of cider blogging on the outer. Lol. Next up Blenheim palace tomorrow.

Take care everyone!

So you won 100 pounds, good job. With your knee, I'll bet it was pretty heavy load getting it back to the hotel...
I know, I know, I just couldn't resist...
