The Hammah challenge...

So many of you know of my run up of $10 bucks on absolute poker to $150 playing 6 handed 1c 2c NLHE.. during my run I lost several $10 buck buy ins playing omaha so I actually made more like $200 playing 1c 2c.. this was from Nov thru Mar...

I thought I had cashed out all my money on stars and ftp but found some 3 euros ...so I got to thinking since Osric came back to life. why not try it again on stars?? this time from $5 bucks????

So I converted the euros back to dollars and started playing 1c 2c 6 handed NLHE on stars.. I am now up to almost $13.. I play two tables get up a few bucks and lock in the win.. I am actually finding the players are stars worse than on abs.. maybe its because there are more players...

Anyways I will keep you all posted how I do. This may take a while since I am not playing hours and hours a day but when I hit some major milestones I will let everyone know. It will be really interesting to see if I can do it again..

wish me luck...

Best of luck. I like the idea of setting reasonable challenges for oneself. I also like the idea of stepping out of my comfort zone. You seem to enjoy the same thing as well.

I did this over the weekend by playing some 1-2 NL. I should do this more often as I love folding preflop or on the flop. And at 1-2, I don't worry about my stack blinding down as it can do playing 4-8 limit or above. I noticed that some NL players can get on tilt easily when they overbet the pot with their middle pair, only to lose to the guy with a strong hand. I turned the ace-high straight after folding so much of the night and let this guy push me around like crazy during the hand. I called his all-in on the river and won the pot. He threw his cards down on the table, dropped an F bomb and called me an idiot for staying in the hand. It doesn't get much better than that.
havent been playing much because of work.. maybe an hour every couple of days. Just past 20 bucks this morning.....

Thought I would give an update on this.

Just past $45 bucks last week. Still playing two tables a few hours a week . 6 max only and I am still finding the players worse on stars at this level then anyhwere else I have played.

actually helping my live game too..

keep you posted in another couple of months..

Played tonight for the first time in a week and booked another solid win. Now at $53 bucks..

big hand was a repop pre against a short stack with JJ getting called by sb with QJ suited and all in shorty had A10

flop came 99J Q on turn and I had to sweat the bad beat when the K hit the river. :-)

last week when I played a short session I think I won the largest pot online ever. That is in num of bbs .. I had AA another player had KK and one more had JJ we were all in pre and my AA held up for an almost 300bbs pot!

I don't know how you do it Hammah. Every time I try NL I build up a stack and run into a cooler. Last night playing 2c/5c I had built my stack up to about $8.50 when I pick up KK in late position. Two to my left raises, next reraises and I 4-bet all in. Both move in for a $25 pot at 2c/5c - #1 flips over AxKc, #2 flips over AcQc and of course #2 backdoors the flush for a monster pot.

Don't know how much longer the laptop can take the abuse after hands like that.

Dont know if 1c 2c is a good gauge or not. That said I three and fourbet smaller than what you did. I find the all in is just too much like a bluff for these players to fold. I def play post flop as most players I play with are very tight post flop and will fold most of the time unless they have something. I am also ONLY playing 6 max not full ring and I am tighter and ultra agressive , ie I wont fold AK pre and with tptk on flop all my chips are going in the middle.

I play this way until I am deep and so it someone else at the table. then I switch and play more deepstack poker, calling small raises with SCs, small pairs etc.. Most of the time I am raising and winning the blinds or reraising and winning pre, or raising and cbetting and winning.

I also play two tables at a time. ONLINE gives you this much needed benefit and you MUST multitable to balance out variance. I think variance is worse online due to the nature of the game and the players (ie players cant see you so they are more aggressive) My individual variance maybe worse on one table but since I have more than one table going it gets balanced out by the other table(s) I am playing.

This is very very important.. The more tables you are playing your total variance should go down. I have been playing on two tables at a time because I like to watch TV but I can play upwards of 4 -5 comfortably if I wanted to but I would need to turn off the TV and soley concentrate on playing. Thats boring for me as I am using this challenge for entertainment not to make money. YET..

Are you still booking wins? I think you should be playing deep. You end up deep a lot in your cash games, and you have a big skill edge in the games your playing in. I used to book wins a lot more in rush, but I've noticed my win rate has been much higher when playing deep and my variance only goes up a small amount. It also allows you to work on using pressure more.

If there are others at the table that are deep then yes I love playing deep. If I am the deepstack by a long shot then I usually leave the table and find another table with high vpip %s .

Tonight I was very happy with one hand where I floated a donk better with a gutshot st draw, two overs and the nut backdooor flush draw. my flush draw hit the turn but it put a 4 card st on the board so I checked. on the river my oppenent bet .. problem was I hit my flush so I just shoved overbet hoping he was slowplaying the st.. he was and I won a big pot.
