The wider the range, the greater the suckout value.
I am seeing more and more players whose "range" happens to be whatever they hold in their hand at the time. In full-ring cash limit games, which is what I play, it is folly to try to put players on a "range," as you will be shocked more often than not. Especially when you get reamed by a guy's 8-3 offsuit on a flop of AK3. He'll call raises and win the pot when his 3 hits the turn or river.
When you start out against 9 players and will be going to showdown with 4 or 5 of them, you'll get sucked out on a lot. Fold early and often. (Speaking of which, I hate making my hand early and being subject to redraws against a half-dozen players.) YMMV.
