The Royal Wedding

Is Vegas booking any action on this?

I give the marriage 2 years.
I would take the action Night... they have already been together for 8 years and if they were going to break up they would have already done it. Even Diana and Charles lasted longer than 2 years.

will post pics from the parade route.. :-)

My bet would be over two years as well...way over. When I view young couples about to be married I look to see if their overall looks are compatible---do they fit together seamlessly or is one way better looking than the other. In this case they seem to be well matched.

Secondly, I look at the finances...If the male is dominant in making money and will continue to do so for a number of years there will be a much lesser chance of a split up or divorce...in this case...hardly a problem.

But as we all know as gospel....anything can happen...and usually does.

Having read and carefully considered yours and Hammah's commentary, I think that you both might be right about my ill-considered 2-year prediction.

I'll give it 4 years (or less).

For me, the best part about Royal weddings is the gaudy costumes worn by the bride and groom, and the ridiculous ring the bride will be wearing.

I wonder if their new "careers" will be giving speeches and having their pictures taken in places like Turkey, St. Kitts, and Jordan.

pictures yes.. but most likely opening things in jolly ol england. The first and I mean VERY FIRST job they have is to have a baby. So I would imagine very shortly after the honeymoon they will annouce their pregnacy. It only took Diana a month or two to get preggers. Kate is older so it might not be so quick but that is her main job..

what many dont know is that prior to George III ..yep the one we beat in our revolutionary war .. the monarch used to own all that was being KING.. since he was a bit off in the head he agreed to parliaments request to create what is still called the Civil List. In exchange for transfering ownership of most of his personal wealth and creating what is still called THE CROWN he and his directl relatives get a stipand every year.
The value of those assets in todays money would be billions and billions of dollars..

Charles has indicated that he will reduce the number of family members on the civil list and the queen pays taxes on her income now even though per THE CROWN contract she does not have to.

Its a pretty hard job and they are always busy. but the perks are nice too. not sure I would want to be a royal.. but I sure will have fun next week at the wedding watching all of them trapse around. I will try to post some pictures if I can.

You just pi55ed off the femi-Nazi's, hammah. Have a great trip. When do you go? Wedding is next week, right?

I am leaving tues and arrive wed early afternoon. Like it or not her main job is to make sure that the royal family has an heir. Parliament is considering getting rid of primo geniture.. ie. that there is a precedence with the eldest male child .. Most of the current european royalties are moving towards this and just making the eldest child the heir.

When they do have a child he will be a prince but of what I am not exactly sure. Currenty William's father is the prince of wales and uses the duchy of cornwall for income although he himself is not the duke of cornwall as that title belongs to the monarch. Because he has the income from the duchy, the prince of wales is also the ONLY member of the royal family not getting a stipend from the civil list.

most other peers in england use more minor titles for their children and when the parents pass away their children inherit their majority titles. I am not sure of charles minor titles but they would include earldoms and barronies so the child may be referred by one of those.. Earl of wessex is currently being used by charles brother Edward and edward will inherit his fathers dukedom (edinburough) when he dies. that duke is the queens husband.. tall lanky guy always walking behind her..

other royal dukes currently being used are kent, glouceter, etc.. by the queens fathers youger brothers families. If you are a child of a royal duke then your are style

hrh prince/cess of kent, gloucester,etc....

their children will not be prince or princes..but the dukedom will pass to the eldest male child.. so the current duke of york is charles next youngest brother Andrew.. he has two girls Eugenie and Beatrice.. they are hrh princess of york but the cant become the duchess in her own right and therefore that title will go back to the crown when andrew dies.

yeah I know it gets rather complicated.. rest assured if I happen uppon any of these folks i will make sure to properly speak to them in the correct mannor..

Dukes are addressed as "your grace"

all other peers are address as "my lord"

queen is address the first time you meet her as your majesty.. then its maa'm ..

so dont run of the prince charles and say "yo chucky, hows the farm going?" that would be a big fo pa..

I intend to wear lost of us flagged clothing so I still out and maybe even get on some tv news show back home..

he he..gonna have fun nontheless.

I still don't understand those royals. All that money and the men still can't find a decent barber. Ridiculous.

Enjoy your trip and do something scandalous.
You big wimp, hammah:

"so dont run of the prince charles and say "yo chucky, hows the farm going?" that would be a big fo pa.."

Most Euros think we're just a bunch of heathen; why disappoint them?

Have fun.

Thanks guys.. we are pretty much set with a schedule of what we plan to do.. touristy stuff for sure the wedding on friday,, some poker friday night (of course!) then off to the country to hang with some friends..

if I happen to bump into any royals I promise to not courtsey (since I am american I dont have to) but I might just say hi.. My cousin was in a move and at the premier she decided to make a fool of herself by reaching out to shake the hand of whoever it was that was there. I cant remember the story so I dont know if it was the queen herself or charles or someone else. You can speak to a royal if they talk and ask you first otherwise you just smile and nod yada yada yada...

anyway guys ..will try to post some pics once we get there..weeee.....
