I started this thread by indicating there were some “old timer” concerts in our musical future this summer.
I do find it funny that on the way to work this morning the radio dudes were having a discussion about one of them being called a “Geezer”. Evidently the term geezer is used in the U.K. as about the same connotation as dude in the U.S. I do realize that Jeff has hit upon the lack of hit recordings accomplished by most of the groups we have all alluded to as putting us in the U.S. geezer crowd.
Since the geezer comment by Jeff I have been attempting to listen a little more carefully to some newer groups mainly on Palladia cable. I have entered with an open mind and a thoughtful ear and have been disappointed by the performances by some of the contemporary music makers. Harmonies are almost non-existent and singing off key is commonplace.
I recall my parent’s attitude to the music I listened to and recall my Dad commenting positively on the talent of the Beatles and some other groups. I am not trying for geezer immortality but I really enjoy spending my money to see a group that has a history. Each song played sparks a memory or at least “I remember that one” status.
Anderson: I at least kind of chuckled at your kind of a drag comment.
