Bah Humbug--Xmas--Update

Just can't seem to get in the Christmas spirit this year. Hubby has to work Christmas day, oldest has to work Christmas eve and the youngest who leaves 4 hours away will be here for about 12 hours the day before Christmas (will be at his new gf family for Chirstmas). Hubby just got informed his is prediabetic which runs in his family. I love of bake for the holidays so that is out the window. Quit my job a couple of months ago (long story short is the wanted to raise my hours and cut my pay). BAhUMBUG. I usually love Christmas. Right now-I only put up my tree and didn't bother to decorate it or the house.

OK-done-ranting.
but you're all alive and HERE NOW.
got a roof over your head?
are you warm and full bellied?

Bake for your local homeless shelter, why not?

Hope you find your Christmas miracle.. wishing you comfort and joy

I truly understand all of that.
Sometimes I let myself get the bah humbug feeling.

I think it is the expectations we put on ourselves, how much we can get done, how many gifts we need to get, cooking/baking.

We can't do it all every year.
Last couple of years we've just bought a pretty poinsettia...no tree. No clean-up after...love it!

A big hug to your husband for working on Christmas, because somebody needs him on that day.

I'm working X-mas eve this year and my lady is leaving to be with her family on X-mas day. Soooo.....I guess that means the Strohman will be heading for the local casino on Christmas Day. Awesome ! I'll take that over a table of annoying relatives any day

I hope your lady friend doesn't read this post
Thanks for the encouraging words. This is going to be the first Xmas since my Dad passed away. My cat died this week also. Our tree sat in the living room for several days with just lights and tinsel on it and this morning hubby agreed-screw the kids if they aren't going to be around we will make it our tree (most of the ornament are theirs that they received as presents over the years). Now the ornaments are ones we have picked up here and there for us. Also went to a flea market yesterday and picked up a little 2 ft tree that was decorated with poker chips and topped with a royal flush. LOL-one just for us.

PJ--think my oldest and I are headed down to one of the boats Xmas day. When he called he suggested a movie date/I suggested a casino.
Ugh-- So sorry about your kitty... and the first year of holidays w/o Mom or Dad is so hard.
Hey
It's just another day.
some days you just have to get through because there are better days ahead-- THERE ARE!! I promise.
Your tree sounds divine to me and going to a casino ain't a half bad idea on this board.
hold on- get through. Dad's watching over you and yours- make him proud. By now,I hope kitty has found his lap and they are both taking a content cat-nap together.

and thanks for posting your true feelings- this time of year gets to a lot of people.
Peace be with you
Lt.ax49, so sorry to hear about your kitty and your dad.
The other day, a good friend said something to the effect, do what you can and everything will be okay.
