Big shocker the "One" wants to raise the debt limit again

I have never seen more "information" just pulled out of rear ends than I do on these political boards.
Lindsey Williams is his name, and if you could take your head out of the sand for one second you might learn something. Even what this guy knows is the tip of the iceberg, why do think we were in a panic when Russia said they were going to drill in the arctic!

The Dems peaked at 58 when Sen. Franken was sworn in in July 2009, but began sliding back when Sen. Brown was sworn in seven months later.

I'm sure President Obama would like to have a Senate controlled by the Democrats. He'll probably never get it.
Though nominally "Independents" Senator Lieberman of CT and Senator Sanders of VT caucus with and usually vote along with the Democrats. With Senator Franken the Dems had effective control of the Senate.
You don't exhibit much appreciation for Sen. Lieberman's history these past five years.

Democrats refused to nominate him in 2006. He noticed. In 2008, he endorsed John McCain, not Barack Obama.

Since then, he's largely opposed President Obama's agenda: he supported the filibuster against the public option, and frequently undercuts the President in foreign affairs.

It'll be nice to get his seat back in Democratic hands next year. Lieberman's no Democrat, and he hasn't been for many years.

It's a persistent right-wing myth that Democrats control the Senate. They have more members than the Republicans do, but they don't control it.

My only contention was that for a brief period the Democrats had effective control of the Senate, not that they do so now.

As to the Senator's voting record once again let others decide:

Note how often he went with the Dems to include the health care act.

I'm bailing out of this one while I'm still Bill Bixby. You kids have fun, now.

Completly true, sorry boys, we are number 1 in oil. It is all kept quiet. The main minister for the oil companies blew the whistle on the Alaskan oil fields, and more resently the oil companies themselves have admitted to the huge quantities of oil. So do not believe me and believe the"100 percent honest" polititians instead. But mark my words!

Good grief but you hide your intelligence well on these boards.

PJ,

How about as direct question......what do you think about the US NOT HAVING A BUDGET?

Or is that some kind of a right wing wacko conspiracy?

So far, you have rather ham handedly dodged that part of the thread.

Seems like I'm always required to oblige every question from the right while they hide from mine.

But I'll play...I think the lack of a budget is a result of a disfunctional Congress that is stubbornly and ideologically split. The House is Responisble for passing a budget and getting it ok'ed in the Senate. So far the Senate has filibustered that and a record number of other items. I dont think its a right wing wacko conspiracy to point to the non-existant budget. I think its a right wing wacko talking point to pretend the right wing hasn't played a huge role in us not having one.

So answer me this, Fritz...now that the House is controlled by Republicans are you going to scold them for not passing a budget through the Senate and WHite House - or is that going to be a wacko left wing conspiracy?

PJ, the house has passed a budget along with many other items. The dem's in the senate are the problem. They won't do their job. Remember Reid is so worried about his cherry tree's, he doesn't care about doing what he was paid to do.

Budget wise I do remember this. It seems Reid did even allow an up or down vote.

"The House passed Budget Chairman Paul Ryan's 2012 "Path to Prosperity" budget resolution in a divided vote Friday afternoon, slashing trillions from the budget over the next decade but angering Democrats with a controversial plan to transform Medicare.

The resolution passed 235-189, with no House Democrats supporting its passage. Just four House Republicans – Reps. Walter Jones, David McKinley, Ron Paul and Denny Rehberg – opposed the bill."

Fritz, here's my direct questions to you...or anyone else from the right. Try not to dodge =)

1) To the extent the Iraq war has negatively impacted the budget deficit in 2009-2011...which administration do you blame for this? The one that advocated and started that war? Or the one that oppossed and ended it?

2) To the extent the unreconciled Bush tax cuts negatively impacted the budget deifict in 2009-2011. Which administration do you blame? The previous one that created them or the current administration that opposses them?

To help you swallow your pride I'll even swallow some of mine by conceding the current administration gets part of the blame for #2.

I also seem to reember this going on. And I also watched all the testimony at the UN about WMD. Sure maybe there was bad intel it sure seems like it. So if it was good we may have not gone in. But hindsight is what (20-20). But seemed most were all for it.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush turns his attention on Friday to the United Nations after the Senate joined the House in strong votes authorizing a possible U.S. attack on Iraq.

The Republican-led House and Democratic-led Senate by wide margins approved the resolution that Bush wanted to reinforce his demand that the U.N. Security Council threaten the use of force, if necessary, to enforce its requirements that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein abandon programs for biological, chemical or nuclear weapons.

From Reuters

"The Congress has spoken clearly to the international community and the United Nations Security Council," Bush said in a statement issued after the early-hours vote.

"Saddam Hussein and his outlaw regime pose a grave threat to the region, the world, and the United States. Inaction is not an option, disarmament is a must," Bush said.

The House earlier Thursday passed the resolution 296-133 after three days of debate.

Under intense pressure from the White House, which wanted a big bipartisan majority in Congress to strengthen its hand in its confrontation with Iraq, the Democratic-led Senate passed the war powers resolution, 77-23.

The Senate vote that capped a week of debate came after lawmakers explained the votes they intended to cast that could lead to war.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, a South Dakota Democrat, helped give Bush the sizable win he sought by announcing he would support the resolution despite earlier reservations. "
