Big shocker the "One" wants to raise the debt limit again

Talking Reagan is pretty useless, don't you think? Reagan won reelection in a landslide. I don't think an Obama landslide is very likely. Do you?

To borrow a quote from Casey Stengel "You can look it up."

I was on record saying that Obama would be the worst President we've had since Jimmy Carter over 3 years ago. I haven't seen anything yet that leads me to believe that I was wrong on that.

Other than a handful of disciples here, some overwrought partisans and Jimmy Carter himself, I am hard pressed to find any Obama supporters these days. YMMV.

Give me a tax cutter, a spending cutter and a guy (or gal) who can keep their pants on, and I'll vote for him (or her). Dem, Rep, Libertarian, male, female, black, white, brown or pink.

LOL, can you imagine a Dem that can fit into my candidate cookie cutter? Said it before, and I'll say it again, if JFK were alive today he'd have to be a Republican.
Look at Reagans popularity at this point in his first term. The general consensus was that he was one and done. Do I think an Obama landslide is possible? Popular vote, yes. Electorial vote no. Too many Southern states would vote for a dog before they'd vote for a Democrat. Do I think an Obams re-election is likely? Yes, I expect him to be re-elected. Most polls indicate this, as well.

You need to diversify the people you associatte with. His approval ratings are more than half.

So the fact that Obama's Misery Index numbers are on par with Nixon and Carter is AOK in your book.

Now I get it.....enjoy the misery!

I've heard Obamas shoe size is almost identical to Harry Trumans. That is just as relevant to any sane conversation as bringing up the misery index.
However, to be fair to you, why not compare the first three years of Reagans adminstration to our current administrations first three years?

MI under Reagan 1981- 17.97 1982- 15.87 1983- 12.82
Obamas first two years were 8.92 and 11.29. This year is not complete, but his three year average will come in well below Reagans first three years.

Billy - you just don't seem to understand.

In the 1st two years of the Reagan Presidency, the index dropped 5.15% --- less is good when it comes to misery.

In the 1st two years of the Obama Presidency, the index increased 2.37% --- more is bad when it comes to misery.

Do you still think we are headed in the right direction?

Gallup and Rasmussen polls have owebama approvals in the low 40's, pretty much where has been for a while, with occasional forays into the high 30's.

So now what about debt. GW added a fair amount I will say. 4.9 trillion in 8 years. But BO I like those initials has blown that out of the water in 3 years. So with 5 more to work with he can certainly pad his numbers. Which means he will probably hoist the Greek flag in his second term.

Yes, the debt is a problem. Aside from growing the economy there are only two ways to resolve it: cutting spending, and raising taxes. The president has shown the desire to address both. Speaker Boehner was almost there too....but The tea party under orders from Grover Norquist will only consider one of those options. I don't care who the president is and from what party - if you think you are going to get a bi-partisan bill that only addresses one side of that equation then you are on crack.

They were close a while back OB and JB. I am really not on board with the payroll break tax thing. Tax increases will have to come unfortunately. And Mr speaker needs to get the Tea people in line. But I have a big problem with not enough cuts. To just raise taxes without them is futile.

The bickering between parties is getting tiresome and all of congress needs to get it together but I doubt it. Thus their 9% approval.

One more point on oil, I stopped listening to the "experts" on how much oil there is in the world when in 5th grade we were taught that the oil supply would be gone by the year 2000. You see that was the 70s. So how do you people explain this one.
Here's MIKEY7777 today:

we are number 1 in oil. It is all kept quiet. The main minister for the oil companies blew the whistle on the Alaskan oil fields, and more resently the oil companies themselves have admitted to the huge quantities of oil.
I think we just learned that MIKEY7777 finally left 5th grade this week.
President Obama spends a lot less than President GWBush did. This chart shows the impact on the deficit from each presidents' policy changes. Note that President Obama's numbers are based on recent CBO projections:

Looking at this contrast, it's clear we’re not raising the debt ceiling because of the new policies passed during this administration. We’re raising the debt ceiling because of the accumulated effect of policies passed in recent decades, mostly led by Republican presidents.

As I see it, the leading GOP candidates (to the extent they have economic policies at all) want to return to the wasteful spending practices of President GWBush. I don't think deficit hawks like me will have any trouble deciding whether to support President Obama.
Chilcoot you are so blind you cannot see 1 inch in front of you. an IQ of 55. What a joke
