Can anyone answer this?

I was watching a particularly lame Travel Channel show which featured footage shot in Madam Tussauds at the Venetian. In these scenes, some of the wax faces were digitally obscured, including Muhammad Ali and members of the Rat Pack. There were several others I am unable to identity because... well, their faces were blurred.

Other wax likenesses were not blurred. Halle Berry and Oscar Goodman come to mind. I found this all very odd, especially with the Rat Pack, since actual photos of them were used in the same program.

I'm used to seeing logos and t-shirt designs blurred on television. I've never seen this done with wax replicas of celebrity faces. Is this an intellectual property issue? It makes no sense to me.

I would submit this question to QoD, but I don't think it would make the cut.

Anyone? Bueller?
I don't know, but I suspect that they are authorized to use the image but not to allow reproductions.
Kindalike me (in Canada) being able to access US TV stations on the net - but not to view the TV programming - I get a message stating not licenced for distribution in Canada. Our NAFTA tax dollars at work!

I think it is a good question for QOD, if nobody else has the answer.
After all, they encourage photo taking in there.
One of my favorite vacation photos is me "with" Luciano Pavarotti.
It is such a good likeness of him, friends I show the pic to are really impressed. LOL

I found this explanation from the show's host:

"Some of the wax figures faces are blurred because we had to get permission from the actual people to use their wax figures in the show...I know its crazy but we had to actually ask Jaimie Foxx, Eva Longoria, Chuck Liddell, etc...the ones that were blurred? never got back to us"

Which still doesn't explain why the Rat Pack could be shown photographically, but not in wax. On the other hand, I no longer care -- so that's good.
I noticed that, too. Good to hear the explanation.

Love Ghost Adventures, but they do seem to be a little more goofy this season.
I appreciate the lack of a camera crew, and the guerilla-style documentation, but the "evidence" is usually quite laughable. And Bagans often comes across as a dumb guy in a Toku shirt. And yet, I continue to watch. Very guilty pleasure.
It IS entertaining. lol

Every once in a while they get a cool piece of evidence. Much better than Ghost Hunters. BORING.
