Carl Spackler wins Crosby Pro Am

Cinderella story... 18th Hole, Pebble Beach.... oh, he got all of that one.... Bill Murray wins!!!!

That's right, Bill Murray won the Amateur part of the Pebble Beach (and other courses) Pro-Am tournament. The old Crosby Clam Bake.
I was glad to Murray win. He's done a lot for that tournament. The way he played 18 though, looked like he might give it away. Though I'm sure it never crossed his mind, but I hoped at the presentation he'd say this one's for Jack Lemon. "it's in the hole! It's in the hole!"

Good Luck!

He definitely limped home on the back nine. As long as DA Points didn't collapse, Bill was a lock to protect his two shot lead. I suspect that most of his scores on the back nine were from Points' card.

Yeah, I forgot the format. I was thinking combined. Otherwise you wouldn't have seen the driver off the deck or knocking in his putt before it stopped. Duh! I still would have liked to see a nod to Jack Lemon.

Best edition of the Crosby in several years, for sure. And yeah, Bill knew his lead was safe, since DA was with him. That's why he tried the driver for the second shot and was hamming it up on the 18th green.

The only thing that bummed me out from the telecast was that they showed just a bit of the "human chain" Jack Lemmon iceplant shot, rather than the whole clip. There also have been years where they show the Peter Jacobsen bit about Lemmon hitting what was really an incredible shot just to get out of the iceplant, followed by blading his easy chip all the way off the cliff and into the ocean. Classic stuff, and I was hoping to watch it again this year.

As usual, the Crosby will be my second-favorite tourney to watch this year. Nothing beats Augusta.

Unfortunately, now that Jacobson isn't playing anymore, the shots of Lemon will probably fade into the sunset. I find that sad as the "Crosby" was my favorite tournament to watch back in the days long before I played golf. I enjoyed watching golf period, but tournaments like the Crosby and the Hope were just more fun for the non golfer I was at the time.

Good Luck!
