Chinese buffet business plan?

I don't know how it is elsewhere but locally. Chinese buffets open up with great service, great food, clean restaurants and good prices. They build a customer base, service goes down, food selection is cheapened, places get less clean, then they go out of business. I've seen this a dozen times in this less than large city.

Why?
Around here that is about the time ICE comes in and sends all the employees back home.
Funny you should mention that.
We have a couple local locations that seem to have that same business model.
They close, change the name, and reopen with a new name, every year or two.
Must be some perk we don't know about.
That does seem to be the model....the big fad now is they try to one up each other by offering more selections. My exoerience is the more selections they offer the lower the quality overall. Its hard to find the sit down Chinese restaurants anymore where you order off a menu. Either they are a buffet or a takeout place.

My observation is that if none of the customers are Chinese families, you are not in a Chinese restaurant.
The same holds for Mexican, Italian and others.
pj is right, I once saw a huge Chinese buffet that included in its offerings a steam tray consisting entirely of Pringles.

The world's finest Indian restaurants by and large serve predominantly Anglo clienteles.

Of course you will have a noticeable change in your cat and dog populations if they leave!

we have been going to one in Lincoln that has the Mongolian and typically Chinese together. It does have quite a following, food always seems fresh! Let's say it is as good and fresh as a buffet can be.
