Constitutional interpretation

If the Constitution is somehow etched in granite and immutable in the face of time and change, how come it was amended 10 times three years after it was ratified and another 17 times after that?

Seems to me those all-seeing Founding Fathers couldn't see everything.
Why do you hate your Founding Fathers so?

you hit it right out of the park, Bill good one (you have to be here a long time ..)

Hold on, gang, I'll get right back to you. I need to do a consult with Rick Perry. Apparently he's expert on the FFs.
..the singer from Journey?!?

Rick Perry. Steve Perry. Whatever.

So I'm at this event last week, and a Tea Party/strict constructionist attorney is railing against the government -- sometimes not a bad thing to do -- and complaining about liberal "misuse" of the "inviolate Constitution." Now he's spending a lot of time talking about his success, even up to the Supremes, with challenges based on the 14th Amendment and I'm thinking, "Umm, what part of the concept of 'amendment' is remotely inviolate?"

"Inviolate" is what you are when you wear purple. And I'm pretty sure it's in violation of some amendment or other.

Your tunes thread is calling you, Jim.
