does anyone own a portable mini fridge?

i was looking at these online. i dont really care about it for vegas, so many things are open 24 hours that buying a water at 3:00 is not a problem. but when i travel other places, id be interested. the only reviews i could find were of people being really mad that its meant to be plugged into a car lighter and you have to buy a seperate adaptor to plug it in at home (or in my case, a hotel). i cant find much useful information on how it works (or doesnt work)

I had one briefly. Very briefly. My 3 gripes are:
- Putting cold things in the unit kept them cold. But warm things took forever to chill
- It was tiny. Not even a whole six pack can fit. 4 cans tops in mine
- Could not plugin the fridge unit and my GPS at the same time.

I sold my mini fridge after one trip noting that a styrophoam cooler with chill packs pretty much does the same thing with much more room and no electrical outlet required
I've had various ones through the years (starting in 1964) ranging from ones that were about the same size as a large coleman cooler to the size of that mini from Amazon. They do take a long time to cool anything down, however if you have had the unit running and then put in something that is already cool it will stay that way. I agree that the small ones are to small to really be useful other than for a day. When I want to use one, I let it run for 24 hours before putting anything in it. They are designed to only cool a certain amount below ambient temperature so beware.
well that sucks. i was really hoping that i found a miracle appliance.
