One of the the therapy dogs at Shriner's was a rescue by a vet tech. It was both blind and deaf. Yet it got around, even in new circumstances, amazingly well. It would enter the room, nose in the air, smelling and checking things out. It would seek out the children and then stick that nose up under their hand to be petted!

Madison is one lucky pup to have you.

What a wonderful rescue for Madison. What we often perceive as a handicap is frequently unnoticed by the afflicted.

Our neighbor had a mix breed dog that was missing one eye and the right front leg at birth. They reluctantly rescued this mutt at their daughter’s request. The mother dog shunned her and she was going to be put to sleep. Muffy, the rescued dog became the fastest canine in the neighborhood and a friend to everyone.

Several homeowners on our block had new concrete driveways poured on the same day and when the concrete was almost set the contractor came by to check the progress. He was not too pleased to find paw prints in the cement. He could not figure out why the tracks were strangely only in sets of three. We provided cold beers to the work crew who had to smooth out the prints and did our best to hide Muffy from the contractor who was unhappily paying overtime for the crew.

Muffy has passed on but a set of three paw prints and “Muffy” scratched in the cement with a stick remains on the uppermost edge of their driveway.

I agree! Madison got the best Christmas gift of all! A loving family and home - almost like getting two gifts for the price of one!
