FBI Warning About Wifi Use In Hotels

Hey Group,

Last night on the KTLA TV news, I saw a report that states that if you use Wifi in Hotels (this goes for in the U.S. as well as around the world), beware if you see some message that asks you to update your software. This is because hackers have put this out and then can download Malware and Spyware into your computer and then do bad things to you!

Also it said to back things up and maybe bring a separate drive (such as a USB type drive) and possibly not your entire computer (maybe use some kind of other device).

Hey Group,

I was able to track down some more information about this. Go to:https://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-fbi-security-hackers,0.1081144.story which includes some video as well.

Really, this applies to any unsecured Wi-Fi network, whether you are surfing at Starbucks, the library, etc.
Absolutely, but people when in Hotels anywhere may think that they are more secure than they actually are. And this update software stuff may not show up when people are in other Wifi spots around. So I put this out so that people would be aware and not let their guards down even when they are in hotels.
