Finish the sentence: My grandmother..

My grandma had many things that I miss about her and her house. Her favorite expression if she liked or loved you was to call you a dumb ass. Even all of our friends and her kids friends knew this and cherished the day that she started calling them dumb ass. Loved her bingo, 7 & 7 in a tall glass with no ice, going to Church, hanging out at the VFW, taking all the grandkids swimming, picnics and so enjoyed when all of us could go "home" to PA and visit with our extended family. She made the best butter brickle cookies and loved all the babies didn't matter who's they were loved them all.

Great topic - thanks.
DAR. fed us tongue. I know there were other dishes in the house when i was a kid, but when you gotta eat tongue as a schoolkid, you dont forget it. Sad life since gramps was disabled/blind. Good role model, except for the tongue. Still have a platform rocker she hand carved at the top. Was a 'gray lady' volunteer at the Canandaigua VA. thanks for the topic, 'cat.
...did acid and bit the head off our cat.
My grandmother struck me in the back of my head with a gravy ladle. It happen on Mother's Day at the local country club. She overheard me asking my cousin to get me a David Duke for President t-shirt (back in 1988) while he was in New Orleans for a convention - she also added that she would disown me if I wore it.

Never got the t-shirt.

We just recently got back from Vegas - my grandmother's last trip there was in 1966. She complained to the taxi driver that she lost $12.57 (over 4 days) gambling on this recent trip. This made me laugh because she had no problem buying a $450 Coach purse and $150 pocket book at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

My Grandmother owned her own business in 1955- a beauty shop in Providence, Rhode Island.
As a young boy- I loved to ride in to work with her on the bus. There was a bakery next to her shop and "if I was good", I got a dime to pick out something special.
My maternal grandmother chain smokes (swears she's quitting) and near her mid-80's, she will probably live to be 100.

My paternal grandmother was the sweetest lady ever, would not harm a fly. She spent her life taking care of grandpa, and with a smile on her face. She was the best cook and made the sweetest cool-aid
